I hope you don't take offense, but I'm disappointed with your mother giving you that advice. She's telling you to lie...not the greatest basis for the development of any ethical principles.

Agreed. Tell the truth OP. It was your fault the phone was damaged. Take responsibility for it.

What a delight to read these wonderful posts recommending lying.

So encouraging to know that we can look forward to a whole generation of folks with no sense of right or wrong...just what you can get away with.

And yet, they will be the first ones here screaming how a company with employees just like them took advantage of them.
