Apple Store Goes Down Ahead of 'Spring Loaded' Event Later Today

Taking the store down is totally a marketing stunt - a corp with Apple's resources and technical acumen has absolutely no need to take their store down for several hours when adding new products.
Every other store in existence can launch new products without closing down or hiccups, so obviously Apple can too.

But from a marketing perspective, taking everything away and not letting anyone see or order anything for a couple of hours is as brilliant as it gets.

It's a shame if Apple shows today the new iMacs with M1 and embedded 8GB. My first iMac was 32GB in 2014....
It’s definitely going to be embedded from now on, so it’s only a question what configurations we’re talking about.

I just can’t see them going higher than 32GB at most because they would otherwise kill too many mini, Air, and 13in Pro sales. But obviously, that’ll also be a question of price.

My worst fears are not related to performance but to starting prices. The first from the ground up ARM Macs have got to cost an arm and a leg.

They certainly can’t be priced like the current m1 machines.

I really wish Apple would allow its engineers to design a modular iMac. One that could be taken apart and repaired easily instead of needing to disassemble the whole thing so you can get to the flash SSD on the backside of the logic board.

I am gonna keep my expectation really low, so that I don't get extremely disappointed.
Not interested in an iPad Pro, might be interested in Apple Tag, but don’t need to run out and buy it immediately. I’ll let someone else buy and test them first.

If they release an iMac I will be more interested, but I won’t buy something that I can’t research at all (even to the point of there is no way of knowing if it will be part of the announcement) and I still have a lot of questions concerning M1 processors.

One of my least favorite aspects of Apple is the lack of information on what they are releasing and what they can do. I’m obviously in the minority with that opinion but I’d really like to know up front what the details are about whatever new item that they are planning to immediately release for sale. And actually I’d prefer knowing a week or so before.

With the Air and MacBooks released last year it was heavily implied that you didn’t need as much physical memory.

Some commentators said that 8GB was enough. Some said it wasn’t. Some said it depends on what you are running. Since buying and adding more memory will probably not be possible after purchase then being able to know with a fair amount of certainty what will definitely be enough becomes important. Do you buy as much as possible and never need it but you inflated the cost of your new computer unnecessarily or something less and maybe or maybe not take a performance hit?

That is why a Mac mini tower or small Mac Pro would be better, like the old days. Hey I will get 16gb of ram, 3 year later, Apple is making the Mac OS larger I guess I will buy additional 16gb. Oh I need more storage, I guess I will buy another M.2 SSD drive and stick it in the second slot. You know what Thunderbolt 5 has come out, I could really use that. I guess I will buy a Thunderbolt 5 PCI slot card and upgrade.

yea it wont even let me into my apple store online account to check prior orders
Literally what I just posted. Have a separate space for things other than placing orders. It shouldn’t block people from checking statuses and tracking

I am gonna keep my expectation high because of the Spring Loaded slogan and the hype which they always generate. If I get disappointed it would be Apple’s fault. Every company should refrain from false advertisement. Money or fame isn’t everything, credibility is also important. My wisdom teeth just came out hopefully I am talking wiser.🕺

I am hoping when it comes back up there are new iMacs in the store. Our mid 2011 is still working but at 10 years old I start to wonder when it might fail.
