Apple's online storefront has been taken offline this morning, less than six hours prior to the company's upcoming "Let Us Loop You In" media event at its Cupertino campus, where Tim Cook's executive team is expected to announce the new 4-inch iPhone SE, 9.7-inch iPad Pro, and Apple Watch updates.

Apple's special event starts at 10 a.m. Pacific, with a live stream (spoiler free) available on Mac, PC, iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, and Apple TV. MacRumors will also have full coverage of the event, with a live blog on our front page and updates in 140 characters or less through our @MacRumorsLive account on Twitter.

We'll also have specific coverage of today's announcements in separate news stories, and our community forums are a great place for readers to discuss the announcements before, during, and after the event. Be sure to keep tabs on the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch sections for the latest discussions.

wow, they are taking it down early before the event. Loosing a couple of hours of sales right there.

I really hope this is just to build hype. If the website/store renewal a while ago only resulted in them having to take it down even earlier than before just to add some products, it's not giving a good impression about Apple's web services.

Best Buy just ran out of their $999 12" Retina MacBooks! Only options for them now are in-store and they are super rare, most likely gonna be gone soon also. Best Buy slicing MacBooks by $300 could be an indication of new stock coming. C'mon new 12" MacBooks!

One day they'll upgrade their e-commerce systems so that they don't need to take the store offline for several hours when making changes, and we won't have this excitement leading up to a keynote...

right? we always prepare it at the back-end and simply put it online at a given time or even automate it but i guess they want the "hype" surrounding it

This seems unusually very early…
The store (and Apple Store app) will be down for a good half of the day here in the UK.

I'm pretty sure it usually goes offline around an hour prior to the event commencing.

Maybe of note: I discovered last night that John Lewis are totally out of stock of all MacBooks - in all colour ways.
Unfortunately not Mac minis, though (but "the new Mac mini is almost certainly coming"!).

I really think (hope) there will be more than the smaler Iphone and the smaler Ipad pro.

I mean a key note where they show new hardware which is good, no question, but outdated -> I mean the hardware the Iphone and Ipad will get is already from last year. Good products, no question...but....

I cannot imagine a keynote where everything we will see is outdated hardware and watchbands...(plus new software of course).......
