And no more available at the same store I'm picking up from today, so how ever many they did receive today are all sold now. They must have received just a few, and they were all sold within a couple of hours, it appears.

The phones go fast. I get to check out and am told that the phone is no longer available. There doesn’t seem to be a mechanism where it gives you a certain number of minutes until is sells it out from under you. Am I competing with bots? I’m going as fast as I can!

I was worried about that happening when I made my purchase too. Luckily it did not, either I was fast enough or they had more than one available, but either way I'm glad I happened to be checking when I did.

Somehow it seems more satisfying to get one this way, don't you think?

I might agree once I manage to get one :)

Swithced to Verizon yesterday and was able to get the last iPhone 13 Pro Max in stock. I am switching from the iPhone 11 Pro Max and noticed that it might take a little while to get used to but it does seem quite heavier compared to my 11PM for the first full day of use.

Is 8 pm the time that one should check for store availability?
Depends. It's actually more sporadic nowadays and depends on when Apple receives shipment. I've seen Apple stores around me update their inventory around 10 am, 11 am, 12 pm, 1 pm, etc. Not always just at 8 pm.

Ok. Thanks. Sounds like I need to be glued to the website all day long.

I talked to someone at Apple Sales yesterday to find out why I was getting all the way through checkout repeatedly only to have the transaction fail. He told me that it is because you are competing with people in the stores themselves. I am assuming he meant that Specialists/Associates in the stores are reserving the phones that come available for walk in customers and that they can do it faster than we customers can. I told him that this is not a great system, and mentioned a company like Ticketmaster. No one likes Ticketmaster but at least once you have a ticket in your cart you have a certain amount of time to check out. All this to say that you might have more luck once stores are closed (or less busy). I was finally able to get a phone between 8 and 9 pm last night at a store that closes (I believe) at 9. Best of luck!

To add, Apple’s checkout is pretty long winded. It’s not as straightforward as just putting it in your cart and complete purchase. I paid with my Apple Card, and you have to agree with the payment plan, also once the phone was in my cart, it defaulted back to shipping so I had to put it back to store pickup, and then you had to
pick what day/time you were going to pick up, which is something that could have us select after checkout, then you have to acknowledge something again, and then you complete the purchase. I got my phone yesterday right when the store was opening, so had less competition then.

Yes so many steps! (And even a few more if doing trade in)

Yes! I also was doing the trade in, and they do want you select how you want to trade upfront. That’s another thing that should be a selection after you complete the purchase especially since you have 2 weeks to bring the device in the store to trade.

Saw my target phone (128GB Graphite Pro) pop up available in Boston area twice today after never showing up yesterday. Today it was once during church when I had notifications muted, and again around lunchtime. The second one was there and gone in less than a minute, I didn't get it :-(

I know this thread is about iPhone’s but I’m legit shocked I was able to get a purple iPad Mini. It just popped up while I was looking for the Dark Cherry iPhone case.

If you’re wanting a phone and don’t want to wait in the delayed Apple shipment, Best Buy almost always has Pros in stock it seems every morning.

Can confirm. I was able to score a gold 256GB Pro Max last weekend with no issues.

Thanks. I think to take full advantage of all of the T-Mobile subsidies I had to buy directly from Apple.
