Overnighters at previous Apple Store Grand Openings (e.g. San Francisco and Shinsaibashi) have reported that there was an open AirPort network available from the store. Don't see why they wouldn't repeat this for Regent Street.

P.S. Count me in with the overnighters!

I'm more worried about power!
Do you know if anyone nearby is providing power?

There's a Starbuck's and McDonalds nearby, but they shut around 3/4am. 🙁
Might bring some movies to watch.

No doubt some of us will be plastered with little Apple's!

Yes, but lets hope that these are not being thrown at us by passers-by! Of course, a nice hot cider-pumpkin drink would go down a treat! 😀

Where are the ipod photos??

Actually I'd rather not have an iPod as I already have an iPod Photo 60GB... the other stuff is far more useful so if I get one I don't mind losing mine for a few things in someone elses bag.

mattmook- as you already own an ippod photo- what hve you heard, if anything, about the likelihood of them being in stock on Saturday? Must have immediately!!! 😡

From Dallas

Sitting in the Dallas/Fort Worth airport British Airways lounge ready for my flight to leave for the London Apple Store opening. I have another hour or so of sitting here before departure.

I will be arriving in London Thursday 7:00am London time (2:00am my time =( ). Guess I will have to decide if the weather is nice enough to do a Thursday/Friday night camp out. Got all my gear ready for subzero temperatures if I decide for 2 nights.

Be looking for a tall American at the front of the line...

-Stormy (ps. will post link to my london journal as soon as I get in line)

cool. Do you, as you've been to a few of these, think I'll be ok for a bag if I arrive at 11pm ish... Its either that or 5am, and I thought 5am would be too late... 🙂 Cheers. I really like you website, very informative 😎

Do you really think 5AM is too late? As I am a local, I thought I would just pop round at about 6-ish. Am I dreaming??

Easy to spot me- only one in queue without ipod! 🙄

See you all there!

Full marks for Mac nuttery. 😀 Coming all the way from the States just for the Apple Store opening? It shouldn't be too cold (as in above freezing) overnight but I guess you should be first in line if you camp out both Thursday and Friday night. Good stuff.

On the contrary. Friday night/Sat morning is expected to be bloody cold - at least it's not snowing. Mmmmmmmmmmm -13 deg C with wind chill. That's about 10F

Forecast

I'll be along about 15 minutes before it opens. I've got most of the things in the lucky bags already so I don't want one. I'd quite like a T-shirt though!

Anyone guess how many are overnighting this time? Seems like quite a few but know where near 300. I can't really get up to regents street early enough sat to guarantee a bag so camping it is.

Any chance of a role call for campers? got two here

It would seem very very odd if apple didn't have all of its kit in stock especially at the launch of a major store - it just remains to be seen how quickly that stock disappears. There is certainly no reason why they won't have any - they are at least shipping these.

Got this in an apple newsletter:

Come early and get a free limited-edition t-shirt.
Be one of the first 2500 people on November 20 and you'll get a free, limited-edition t-shirt. Once in the store you can be among the first to get the hottest new Apple products, like the iPod U2 Special Edition and iPod Photo. Plus, you'll find everything Apple in stock - from the amazing new iMac G5 and the superslim iPod to AirPort Express. Apple has something on everyone's holiday list, so come by on opening day and do all your shopping at once.

I think that means they will be selling iPod Photos and they'll probably have a lot in stock because the demand is gonna be high

You know I was just about to eat my hat this morning when I saw the forecast. "A cold night - freezing - tonight (as in Thursday) and as cold or colder tomorrow (Friday) night".

Glad I'm not camping out but those who do better wrap up warm 😀. Typical, because it's been relatively warm up until now.

I think I'll be strolling along roughly when you do. I'm planning to get in as early as possible on Saturday morning, but my mum will pay for my train ticket if she comes with me, so arriving about 9am will suit me fine. I won't be getting a lucky bag but I would also like a t-shirt.

I'm planning to do an overnight, it depends on the weather. I've put loads of books on my Newton, a flask of hot Mulled Wine and some warm clothes, should be ok?

Not worth it

There is hardly anything open in Soho after 1pm - don't count on anything opening till about 10am, Regent Street is chaos on a Friday night - there is a high likelihood of being urinated on by passing drunks (not to mention the abuse that will be hurled at you) there won't be any public conveniences - the nearest loo closes about 11pm, there is a high likelihood of you getting arrested by police for loitering and you'll probably get filmed for the news with a whole bunch of geeks you really didn't want to associate with.
