Edit. Sorry misread your post. Call your CC company. Then go find it at another place.

You do realize most members here try that every day and come away empty handed, right? Hence the countless angry threads with people looking at all online inventory lists and terrible customer service stories at best buy and others

Apple charged my card twice on launch day second charge was declined if I wasn't able to miraculously come up with cash on the spot I would've been screwed so people need to chill out with immediately blaming this guys bank. Apple can make mistakes

I take it you are not a U.S. resident. If that is the case did you inform your CC that items shipped to whatever address you gave Apple is valid? If not, that is probably why your charge was declined. It's a typical security measure.

Alternatively, Apple may have detected that your billing address was not U.S., which is a requirement to order from the U.S. store.

No I'm not.
This is not my first purchase, I bought online my macbook pro, iPad 1 last year and some accesories.
Thanks, this was my banks fault and Apple too because they didn't email me at least.

Amen!

I would find a new bank or CC company. When a card gets double charged a good bank will wipe out the second charge but still honor the first.

I agree an email from apple would have been the courteous thing to do but I wouldn't expect that anytime in the near future.

I've placed my order on March 11, same launch day....it was scheduled for shipping on April 1st and delivery April 8th...and today...one day before the shipping date, my orders appears like 'cancelled'... I called apple and the girl told me that they werent able to charge y credit card so it was cancelled...but it was!!! my credit card was already charged!!! this is amazing...frustrating...
She said I should call my bank and find out what happened...and she could place a new order for delivery by the end of April... is she crazy? after almost a month waiting for my iPad 2 this is unbelievable... I don't know if there is a ail where I ca fill a claim... What can I do?

Same thing happened 2 me....but Apple sent me an email about it so i just called them up the next day and got it all straightened out....

But i was thinking about how pissed i would be if they waited to inform me or if they just cancelled my order!

Your CC was not charged, it was just authorized by Apple. Your CC/bank may have "charged" your card as a precaution but released the funds after a couple of days. If Apple went to ship and could not get your CC/Bank approved/charged then your beef is with yourself or your bank but NOT Apple.

My credit card went through this process as well. I too orderd on launch day March 11 - with shipping April 1 and delivery April 6. But my CC when through pre-authorization last weekend and was shipped on Monday and my Ipad 2 arrived today.

I would call your bank - maybe funds weren't available for full amount at the time or something and it declined for some reason.

So you ordered an iPad in the USA, presumably for delivery somewhere in the USA, while you are actually in another country? Can you see how this would somehow look suspicious to your credit card company? If you travel and intend to spend money abroad on your credit card, or if you do something like you did, it is very advisable to call your credit card company beforehand and inform them.

I can't believe some defend Apple's standing here. Even if his credit card was denied they could have put his iPad on hold for let's say 3 days. If the card holder could not resolve the problem in that time frame then release the iPad to the next customer. It's beyond reason to send him to the end of the line.

Why would they put an iPad on hold if the credit card is denied? Credit card denied means either the guy has no money, or it is fraud. Or apparently in this case, someone doing something that will trigger all the fraud alerts at the credit card company without telling them. As a company, you are helpful to your customers. Credit card denied = not a customer.

That's strange. They always call me if there is a problem with an online order like address mis-match or something. I've never had them just cancel the order. Maybe it's an iPad thing.

I guess you live in the country where you order. If you order abroad and give them your phone number, they might not be willing to make a long distance call, or they might not figure out what number to dial, or in the case of Apple Store, the US employees might be on a phone system that doesn't even allow calls to other countries.

Why would Apple care?... They've got people with fully functional payment methods ready to go - they're not gonna waste time chasing you for a payment they might never get!

Sort your finances out, stop complaining and get yourself to one of the many outlets that currently have stock...

That sucks that it happened to you, but at the same time, it is not Apple's responsibility to chase you down for money when they have lines running out the door behind you with working credit cards. Speaking of which, was the card you used a credit card or a debit card?

I also assume that you are trying to get one in the US because the iPad is not released in your country yet? Is there a plan for it to be release din your country? If so, just wait until that day & go wait in line. In the meantime, get your finances sorted out and/or get a better credit card.

every store is sold out... some bb appears like 'in store only' but when you go there, there isnt.

You should give a try to Apple's Reserve and Pick Up page. You order online (after 9PM when iPads are back in stock) and pick it up the next day. You pay when you pick it up. No lines and no getting there to find that they're out of stock.
