I was around for the first Earth Day.

It was to celebrate Vladimir Lenin's birthday and warn us of global cooling.

It's was a way to promote communism in America's youth.

It's a TOTAL scam.

Yeah, unfortunately Apple has been pushing their own agenda several times in the past.

The iPhone was released on June 29 (2007). Gary Busey's birthday - it appears that our Californian liberals are trying to promote his un-"god"ly lifestyle, drugs and alcohol abuse(y).

The first iPad was released on April 3 (2010), most likely to mock Pope Honorious IV, who passed away on April 3, 1287. Clearly another sign of Apple making fun of "Christians".
Also, as you've already pointed out, the communist agenda is being pushed by Apple here as well, as Stalin became the first General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union on April 3, 1922.

Unfortunately, the friends and fans of iGadgets won't see how the American way of life is being mocked by Apple and other regressive lefty companies.

What is worse:
  • NOT using clean/green energy
  • Lie about using 100% green energy by paying off other companies and consumers to give Apple “green credits” for its coal electricity usage
That's some dirty marketing Apple does...

The sky is brown.

Anybody can say anything. Where's your proof that Apple doesn't use clean energy when third-party organizations have certified that they do?

They could make a slightly modified version and sell them as a fundraiser with all profit going to wwf. I would buy one for $20.

As I am thinking of this, I think of the interesting idea that though apple is one of the strongest brands in the world yet they have never capitalized on this through t-shirts. How many Apple tee shirts could they sell? All of the classic ad slogans they could make shirts out of? A crazy ones tee shirt? A 1984 one?

It would be more impressive if all the Apple stores actually ran on "renewable" energy... Paying offsets to power companies does not make the actual electricity running into your building "green."

Now, if every Apple building on the planet was covered in solar panels along with the installation of a number of fuel cells (cause solar panels can't generate enough juice) and they advertised a more factual figure like 50%, then they might have something to crow about.

Still, they've made some good progress, more than other companies.

... and that's the kicker. On record for what, the last hundred or so years? The planet is a lot older than that. For man to think he is affecting the climate is not only arrogant but based on very limited observable conditions and theories.

There is no doubt that we are in a warming trend but to take the leap that man is causing it is just a dumb assumption to make.

and coincidentally Earth decides to warm up considerably few decades after booming Industrial Revolution. We are not affecting global warming. Cmon, how is that possible? We are "just" 7 billion people, there are only a "few hundred" thousand airplanes flying every minute, millions of cars, million powerplants burning fossil fuels, heavily industrialised countries burning coal and oil every single day. We are so egocentric to think we have any involvement with global warming.

Ironies aside, it really pisses me off to read comments of people denying our more than clear involvement in global warming. Because those people spoil the efforts of those who really care about the future of this planet.

Just think, that extra $100 for the new iPad and 5400 rpm drives in the iMac are paying for Tim's expensive legacy creation. It has to be green stuff because he'll not be remembered for technology.

Which of those two do you care more about? One is vastly more important than the other in the grand scheme of things.

I care about the planet. Doing that and pointing out how Tim is mugging off the punters to pay for his legacy are not mutually exclusive.

And that assume much of this self-congratulatory bullcrap is something other than a green credits scam. You know, Apple marketing is hardly the paragon of honesty.

But Apple don't control the energy that comes into the shopping centres within which their stores are located. Does that mean that every store in the centre runs on 100% renewable energy?

The fact is that he may be right. They could be wearing the same clothes they've always used. All in all, it is good to see a company like Apple trying to raise environment awareness.
Employees are encouraged to recycle shirts. If a new shirt is needed, the employee hands in their old shirt to get a new one. The promotional shirts are one time only shirts and are not reproduced beyond the initial fabrication but are still eligible for recycling.

The shirts are made in Vietnam by Esquel Garment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. If you're wondering what the shirts are made of and how they're produced, I recommend looking into this company.

It's not a dumb assumption, it's science (you know, studies done by scientists that know about science). They've done tests on smaller scales that confirm CO2 traps heat insulates, causing temperatures to increase.

Science is consensus. Nothing more. What is believed today will not necessarily be the same tomorrow.

Man-made global warming is nothing more than a bunch of people sitting around a table thinking they know everything about the earth and the universe. News flash, they don't and neither do you especially if you believe them.

I'm glad to see Angela is in charge of coordinating this in the retail stores. Now only if she was capable of coordinating a proper Apple Watch launch! Let's see what happens with version 2 launching in the next six months.

It saddens me more than anything to see people who have been suckered into science which is at best a shot in the dark into what is really happening. The scientists are not 4.5 billion years old (the age of the earth) so everything that is coming out of their mouth is strictly theory. That's all I'm saying. If you believe them, that's fine but then you should also believe everything else they say. Otherwise your faith in our scientists is only a belief of convenience.

(And politically dangerous one.)

As I scientist myself I believe in methodology and experimental consistency. And that is eaxctly what scientific community has been doing regarding global warming research. There is no agenda, there is no convenience, this is not a religion where you choose to have faith or not. There is data, and statements are based on that.
