Sorry to poo poo this. If you are asymptomatic you won’t have a bloody temperature! So how the hell does this become ok.?!

Everyone has a temperature. Asymptomatic people won't have a fever, their temperature will be around average for a human.

This is a lie and you shouldn't believe it. Have a look here if you want some real stats: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/germany/

I don't know about lie. The data seems correct; their interpretation may be off, though.

Here's what they claim:

The Robert Koch Institute for public health and disease control has reported 933 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday – an increase from just 357 on Monday.

That's true.

and

do indeed show those numbers.

It's also true that restrictions keep getting loosened. On Monday, numerous large department stores opened for the first time in months, so it seems plausible that that would be a new source of infections.

However, what the Express is saying is that 933 is particularly high; it seems the real data would be that 357 is particularly low, and an outlier. Your source flattens the data a lot more instead.

The Express is no doubt being irresponsible by just comparing two data points here. A meaningful trendline requires more data. It's premature to say whether the reduced restrictions were a smart idea.

The fact is that Germany had 72865 active infections on April the 6th. Now, 35 days later we have 19298 active cases. If the trend continues then Germany will probably be Coronavirus free by the end of June/beginning of July. There is no second wave (currently).

That conclusion also seems premature to me.

You're repeating daveedjackson's point.

In Dubai you can’t even get into a grocery store without temperature check and this should be a standard for everywhere in the world.

How is someone's health data not private information? Apple would readily agree that it is.

The real question is whether it can be tied to a person.

I can go out in the street with a FLIR and measure people's temperature. That's not private information, and as long as the exact temperature isn't shown it may not even be violating HIPAA's PHI rules.

And again, health and safety trump privacy in a public health situation, at least in the US.

You can also go out in the street and take pictures up women's skirts.

Same thing — you do either of those two, and hopefully someone will call the police on you for being a creep.

That's not private information,

Like hell it isn't.

and as long as the exact temperature isn't shown it may not even be violating HIPAA's PHI rules.

I really don't see how HIPAA is important in Germany, but maybe you can explain.

I do appreciate that you're acknowledging that temperature is private information after all.

And again, health and safety trump privacy in a public health situation, at least in the US.

That's a wholly different discussion than whether health data is private.

"Lie?" As in intentional statement made contrary to fact? While a climb from 357 to 933 isn't a trebling, it is a sharp increase and alarming.

@chucker23n1 had a good answer to the above. Nothing is conclusive based on this Pandemic. Too many unknowns.

It’s just two days being compared. I wouldn’t read too much into it. Make weekly averages and then draw trendlines.

Can anyone in Australia chime in on what the environment in Apple stores look like after re-opening?
Us Aussies are probably not the best example, we are a lot more relaxed about all this than other countries. however the stores are all booked out of the Genius Bar for the next week and they are very busy.
Temperature checks and masks are mandatory for entry and each store has a limit on the number of people in there at a time, if it’s over that it’s take a spot in the virtual queue and come back when they message you. However I’m hearing that virtual queue is normally full before midday! So people do you shopping online and call Apple Support before Thinking about going in

Agreed, plenty of them around, like the ones spitting/coughing on for instance police/healthcare workers/Public transport workers ....
Okay, those people, doing that, should spend a some time in jail (or, I don't know, handcuffed to a table in their home) to think about their actions and how they affect others.

+1 We have the same "situation" in Austria, but not as bad as in Germany were the media picks up and repeats every fart of the RKI or Charite: We have far less than 100 new cases per day, quite steady, actually. However, now that we barely have any active cases left and there are little death due to corona (in fact not more than the last year at the same time) media starts picking up on the R-number which is BS at this time as it's based on math which gets quite useless with low numbers. What's relevant now is the absolute number of infections per day (or rather per week). When you have a constant number of low active infections R will be 1 over the long term. As such, any media now trying to create panic because R went from 0.5 to 0.8 is just showing its own incompetence. (Fact is, as long as R < 1 the amount of active cases is reducing.)
As you say, there is no second wave currently. Period.

I appreciate you sharing the experience. I'm in the US where stores will be re-opening in 4-5 states very soon, if not already. No plans for my state any time soon, however, so I was curious.

Totally out of line, asking someone to drop their pant to have their temperature taken before entering the store is outrageous! </s>

You can’t do touch less two second testing for symptoms of a dangerous epidemic says the country that tattooed numbers on the arms of Jews and sent them to death camps.

The following statement may not be read or viewed in the EU for GDPR compliance reasons:

Your body temperature is approximately 37 Celsius. You have a pulse.

The point is to mitigate impact, protect employees and customer and not add to an already bad situation. With your logic why do anythin? Why take tests at hospitals and clinics? Why close details store? Look at the countries that delayed their response and look what happened. While you may not be feel symptomatic you could return a high temperature and thus potentially save others from becoming ill.
What’s even the point in doing this?

A you may not even get a fever
B you may already have it but show no symptoms yet

literally haven’t seen any other store doing this in Germany

So Germany wants to spread covid-19 even further? What idiot releases this? Did they even think before they spoke?

That “country” (political system not geographical location or name) no longer exists. Germany is not what it use to be. Never forget what happened, but don’t try and compare them now vs then.

Well, many people already accuse Apple of essentially doing that to their customers via their exorbitant prices, so you may as well...
