Apple began accepting pre-orders for the Apple TV on Monday morning, but has not yet announced when the device will be available for purchase in its retail stores. Apple Retail employees that have spoken to 9to5Mac have shed some light on when we might see the new set-top box, however, suggesting it will be in stores on Friday, October 30.

Apple retail locations are set to receive shipments at the end of the week, with Apple Stores being reconfigured overnight on Thursday to focus on promoting the new Apple TV.

Friday is also the first day when pre-order customers who selected one day shipping will begin receiving their Apple TV orders. Some Apple TVs have already begun preparing for shipment and will be shipping out very soon. Best Buy is also accepting pre-orders for the new Apple TV, but isn't allowing for in-store pickup until November 4.

The new Apple TV is available in 32 and 64GB configurations, with prices at $149 and $199, respectively. The device includes an A8 processor, a touch-based remote control that doubles as a game controller, a full App Store, universal search capabilities, and Siri integration.

I'm going to the mall tomorrow and I'll pay a visit to the AS but it may be too early, anyway I'll return Saturday and I think the ATV will be available by then

That is odd of apple for scheduling and release. Glad I did free shipping. ill pick it up for the weekend, and return the shipped model. Unless qualities will be limited in store.

right looks like ill get my friend over in the states to buy and ill cancel my order in the UK

By the time you pay the duty on it and get it shipped to you, you'll get it later and pay more.

uh this would have been nice to know

How could you not have known that? Every time they release a new product with a pre-order the shipping data for release day is the day you can get it in the store. This is true of the iPad, iPhone, MacBook, iMac, and every other Apple product.

It's difficult to know how useful the Apple TV will be for me on Day 1 without knowing the third-party apps that will be available. (I have the dev kit but the App Store isn't up yet and I'm assuming it won't go live until Friday.) I have a suspicion I'll probably keep using my old Apple TV for third-party services in the short-term.

Would have been nice to know the other day. I wouldn't have ordered online had I known this. Apple needs to fire the person in charge of these releases. Apple Watch release was screwed up too. What is going on with Apple lately???

mine is on track to be delivered on Friday ... currently in 'preparing for shipment' state. No confirmation yet that it will really be here on Friday, but I think timing looks good.

Already preparing for shipment and can't cancel :-/

If you spend the extra 18 bucks, you should have it than by Friday (hopeful guessing ....)

And yet no Software Update for the Apple TV 3, guess it won't get the new UI :(

Great, I just payed 18 ****ing dollars for before noon shipping when I ordered so I could have it Friday .....an hour before this story came out

I will say it time for Apple to redo the ordering/preordering process....I think it would be great if they did something like if you live within 30 miles of an Apple Store you can reserve for pickup during your pre order (and those outside the range can only have it shipped)

I assume the App Store will go live tomorrow or Friday morning. AirPlay will work, so will iTunes.
The only third party service I use is Netflix and I can use it on my iPad if is not yet available on tvOS, but since is working on the 3rd generation TV I assume it will be ready for the 4th
