I thought it was determined that the fan runs since the display is providing power to the MacBook (it'll charge the MacBook while the MacBook is asleep)... the fan keeps the power supply cool. Is that not the case?

But to be honest, I have three ASDs on my desk in front of me and cannot hear the fans at all, even with three of them.

Anyone ever schedule an Apple store repair but have an Uber driver drop it off but someone do the paperwork ahead of time? Also, when you drop off, we have to return in person to get the new/repaired monitor or apple ships it to us? Thank you

No way would I trust an Uber Eats driver with that. Not in a million years. If you're unable to do it yourself, find a trusted friend of family member. And, AFAIK, there's no way to do said paperwork ahead of time. And I suspect they'd want all your information, ID, etc. so they can release the display back to you when you pick it up.

I see. Sad for the disabled community. But yeah, I think this Apple Store within the mall doesn’t have its own entrance. Gotta carry a monitor through the mall….if they just replace the monitor with a new one , I wonder why they don’t just mail it to you

If you’ve got disability issues, it’s worth calling the store and just asking.

They’ll probably accept a release from a trusted friend if you arrange it when it’s dropped off.

[edit] oh yeah, they do have a system for that: https://www.apple.com/shop/help/shipping_delivery

To pick up your items in an Apple Store, you or your designated contact will need to show the order number, a valid government-issued photo ID, and the QR code or Wallet pass found in the pickup notification to the Specialist at the Store.

They started adding limited Best Buy stores for apple display repair drop off. I found 3 nearby. I called 2 and they said they wont accept. How sad.

So I was in the Apple store a few days back. Took the chance to ask why my Studio fan stays on when the computer is in sleep sometimes. I mean, I can't hear it unless I put my ear right next to the top grill - where the exhaust is, so it doesn't bother me at all, but I was curious.

The guy at the store responded by telling me that I should shut down the computer rather then use sleep.

At that point I knew I wouldn't be getting anyway so just thanked him and left! lol
What kind of Mac are you using with your ASD?
I’m desperate trying to get more attention to that kind of hidden bug. Looking for more users to confirm and opening a ticket with apple support.

Apple Studio Display fans run endless connected to a Mac mini Mx in sleep started with MacOS 15.4

@ all ASD users with M Mac mini …please take the time to read the full story and test your device. Thanks, this is no fun anymore. Studio Display with Mac mini. Please check ... link to the issue

Still love my Studio Display, don’t regret the money, but this bug needs to be fixed.
Thanks for testing and feedback.

Im using a M4 Max Studio

Does Apple repair the screen or a full replacement for screen damage? I have both Studio Display and xdr. For xdr I believe they don’t change out screen, just full replacement. But that is kinda shady to charge someone $299 instead of $99 for screen damage ?

When I needed a 27” iMac serviced they came to my house. They said if you have AppleCare and a screen 27” or bigger they do home service. Smaller or no AppleCare then carry it in. This was a few years ago, could be different now.

Have a SD coming tomorrow to use with my 15" M4 MBA in my home office. With a magic keyboard was only $200AUD less than a 24/512Gb iMac, but don't really want another Mac to deal with for now. Sold a M1 iMac.
Have tried a few cheap 27" monitors but didn't like them.

See how we go.

I get a very fine flicker that lasts about 2-3 seconds. Mostly noticeable when browsing on whiter pages, but it’s very intermittent.
I have AppleCare on it but worry that as it’s intermittent that it won’t be seen and dismissed.

I guess there’s a chance it’s the Mac (Mini M2 Pro) but difficult to test.

Apple is stating residue on nanotexture is a $299 deductible. I said “so if I got a hammer and shattered the screen it would be only $99”. They said “yes”
