Okay! I’ll just upgrade way less. Wanting people to be paid less than they’re worth so I can buy cheap watches is an asinine and self-centered ideology I don’t subscribe to.

50% of Americans can’t afford a $400 emergency. Workers are struggling while companies and their executives are making record profits.

If they really wanted to, they could lower costs and their salaries and still be rich as hell, but they don’t. Talk to them about high prices, friend.

Since you're coming from the Bay Area... do you think you can handle Arizona heat? We have shattered heat records last week. We surpassed the record of 19 straight days of temps above 110° (and still counting as far as setting the new record)... and we had 2 straight days of 119°.
…but it’s a dry heat 😉

No, Tim Cook doesn't even want the money

Good on him!

China wants Taiwan so that their communist slave workers don't wake up and start demanding democracy (again).
And the chip maker would be a huge bonus.
Sure others have really good chip making plants and stuff but TSMC is #1. The chip shortage for cars and etc well
"Chips were invented in the U.S. But now, only 12% are made here. Of the more sophisticated chips, 0% are made in the USA. Those are made in Taiwan and China."

I won't get into conquering and the market economy stuff because the remark I made was quite flippant. However, if China did make a move on Taiwan, TSMC would be a very big bonus for China's chip making.

The "smart people" you need to build and work at your high-tech facility are "smart enough" to know that living in a >100° daytime environment is both unhealthy and unsustainable.

All the corporate tax breaks and tax incentives from, er, "red-hot" states won't change that fact. LOL

Why 4nm when 3nm is already
Because the second factory doesn't have to be all 3nm just the front end tools.
Fab 1 will be able to do 4nm and up.
When the second fab comes up it will be able to do starts for 3 and 4nm. then fab1 will be a flex fab for 4nm and up products while supporting the mid and backend layers for the 3nm process products. huge cost savings.

Reportedly, some of the issue is that Intel (which also has tons of fabs/expansion in the area) pays better, and has better hours.
not to mention Intel's has a stronger interest having a safer working environment.
