Thinner!!! when will it stop (in a good way)! Honestly how long before our ipads and iphones are simply laminated type sheets haha. 10-20 years?

Picked up an iPad 4 after owning an iPad Air since launch. Boy that thing is heavy and uncomfortable to use!

Weight is a huge factor in tablets. Let's hope the thinner Air 2 is also lighter.

Thinner again. Before you know it we've got an iPad as thick as a piece of paper. Wish they would focus more on actual improvements, thinner isn't always better.

One thing I wish they'd improve is screen refresh rate. Scrolling through text is uncomfortable at best.

I agree. Enough is enough. The Air is perfectly sized as far as weight, feel in hand, and overal sveltness are concerned. Much more and it's going to get a little dodgy, IMO.

I was planning on staying with my Air anyways due to their not being enough of a reason to update and I don't have upgradeitis. But, at some point how much ya bet they end up going back to a little heavier, thicker iPad?

This paper thin thing is a fad. You'll see.

And it dents like crazy due to it being very thin. I really just want more RAM, that's all, it's not asking too much I believe

i also bought the apple bluetooth keyboard but that was annoying too going back and forth between tapping on the screen to navigate then going back to the keyboard to write.

Sounds like the Mac was better for the task at hand if you're that fussy.

It amazes me how you both missed the sarcastic smile!

Well no, I'm really happy with my battery life.
If you read my comments about iPhone I would trade thinness for more battery life, but I think they can make the iPad lighter and thinner if they can do it without decreasing battery.

In both cases we are very close to the limit, they cannot shrink the iPhone or the iPad making them too thin, they have to be comfortably picked up and hold. I just guess we are more close to that limit with the iPhone than on the iPad.
Besides, let's see if A8 will be less power demanding, so the new display.
Of course I'd be happy to have even more battery life on the iPad, you never know maybe one day I'll use the iPad even more, but so fare they did a great job in my opinion.

The way it looks right now, I can just as well give Apple a direct debit mandate for my bank account and wait for the packages to arrive. I have a feeling that I will end up buying nearly everything that they will release over the next few months.

For me, thinner is always an improvement, because as I keep pointing out, thinner translates with near-certainty into lighter. I don't care so much about how thick a device is, but weight is for me the key factor both for smartphones and for tablets. The first iPads were for me just at the border of what I can live with in terms of weight. The iPad Air is finally in the usable range. But every additional few grams that they can shave off the weight will be extremely useful. I carry my iPad around in the house. I have it in my backpack while travelling. Really, weight is an absolutely major issue - much much more important than battery life.

So whoever feels that they'd accept a thicker iPad or iPhone to get more battery life should keep in mind that this is not about milimeters but about grams.

The only issue I'm having with my fathers iPad Air is the RAM. Seriously, you can't even switch between Chrome/Safari and another app without Chrome/Safari needing to reload the page, what a major pain! I was setting up Airport Expresses with the Airport Utility and had to go back and forth between that app and a browser frequently, nearly lost is whilst waiting for the pages to reload. I have a Nexus 5 which has 2 GB of RAM, if I open Chrome after a whole day of other usage my pages are mostly still loaded.

Other than that, thinness seems to be sufficiënt, a more logical step would be to make this more a spec upgrade instead of a design update.

I agree with those saying that reducing the weight of the iPad is still a significant benefit, and battery life is already good (even on my old iPad 3), whereas it's not really a big deal on iPhone. That said, the iPod touch feels so nice, so it's definitely desirable!

TouchID is enough to sell me on a new iPad, lighter coming in second. I just wish they'd move the speakers to the front instead of the back, it's utterly ****ing stupid...

Alright then, I'll accept a heavier iPad for more battery life. ;)

Seriously, though, I just want something that can match the iPad 2. It still surprises me after ~3 years of use.

The fact the new iPad will be sligthly faster, sligthly thinner and with a sligthly better camera is not a surprise. What IS a surprise is that Apple believes that's enough to make people update their iPads when we are already seeing sales dropping.

The "can't innovate my ass!" has become simply "can't innovate". Other than the most rabid fanboys, who would buy anything anyway, no one has significant incentives to update their iPads. As the tablet market becomes saturated, Apple's inability to really and significantly improve their products is shining.

That's why they put it in that 1.5" thick box that contains mostly air?

Haha that's nothing compared to the original iPod boxes :D Such a waste of space! Reminds me of the old PC game boxes which were the size of 3 textbooks and inside was just a single CD jewel case!

i don't know any who has said that the iPad Air is too low and too thin
but i have heard people say that it doesn't have enough MEMORY

if they reduce the thickness and add and A8 and keep 1GB of memory...i have lost faith in humanity

their refurb store is hurting their "new" iPad sales as well. there are so many options now to get something in brand new condition for hundreds and hundreds off. you can get the iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad Mini, iPad Mini Retina...in nearly every config with stock changing every week.
