I was being sarcastic! There is some thinnerphobia going around here! iPad air is thin but it could be thinner and lighter. The battery life is excellent and I wouldn't really wish for better.
And it dents like crazy due to it being very thin.
Agree,i'd say the Ram upgrade is definitely necessary as current iPad Air is almost crippled by low memory crashes.it ridiculous and embarrassing.ipad desperately needs at least 2 GB of rom upgrade
Fall: Autumn, September 22 (no idea why it's that day...) - December 21.
Have you tried any of the "active" styluses though? Like the Jot Touch or the Hex 3 Jaja?
I work with audio and midi.
The iPads are totally incapable to transfer midi over USB... the ports are locked.
You buy a software instrument for iOS and you can not control that software from OSX via USB. You need to but a USB interface and then a USB Midi interface, then connect with midi cables to another USB to MIDI interface connected to your Mac. In the mean time your iPad is running out of batteries.
Apple has made the iPads and iMac incompatible I do not know why. For sure to liberate the feature in a future release. But is absurd that in 2014 we are back 40 years ago regarding midi compatibility. Soooo stupid.
Haha that's nothing compared to the original iPod boxesSuch a waste of space! Reminds me of the old PC game boxes which were the size of 3 textbooks and inside was just a single CD jewel case!

Thinner product means less volume and more profit. Simple mathematic.

I don't think apple will make the new iPad thinner. They released a redesigned iPad last year so they are going to wait at least one more year before making it thinner. This iPad air 2 is more like an iPad 5s than an iPad 6 . They are most likely going to upgrade the internals (A8, Touch ID, camera) but keep the same design; and If they won't redesign it, it doesn't make sense to make it just thinner. Apple has never made a product thinner 1 year after redesigning it.
Maybe the new iPad mini 3 will be thinner , because it wasn't redesigned since released in 2012.
7.5mm is already thin enough , they should make an iPad that has the same battery life as the iPad 2, which has a longer battery life than the iPad Air.
Plus making it thinner will require buying new cases , I don't think apple will redesign their cases again, one year after releasing them. Also, people who bought the smart case for 80$ will need to buy another one which would be a waste of money.
I really doubt this rumor of a thinner device. Apple generally keeps the same form factor for at least two generations of device. It might be marginally thinnermuch like how the Retina iPad Mini was marginally thicker than the original Mini. But generally it will fit into most of the same cases.
If it is substantially thinner, then that A8 chip probably has excellent power efficiency. And if that's the case, then at what point do you want it to be thinner vs. a powerhouse device? Perhaps that is why we will end up seeing an iPad Pro sometime soon. The MacBook Pro has always been thicker than the MacBook Air and people generally don't complain because of the performance increase. I just hope they don't make it substantially bigger. Would be nice if there is some overlap, much like the 13" MBA and MBP. Just make a slightly thicker version of the iPad Air, with a quad-core A8 and 4GB of ram. Throw in a pressure sensitive display that can be calibrated. Charge a $200-300 premium, coming in at 64, 128, and 256GB. I'm hopeful the next iPad update will feature 32GB minimum, so price the base 64GB pro model at $799-899. Perhaps a larger size in the 12" range would be $100-200 more, and slightly fastermuch like the rumored iPhone 6 4.7" vs. 5.5" versions. And also like the current Retina iPad Mini vs Air.
So you might have:
15" MacBook Pro Retina $1999
13" MacBook Pro Retina $1299
13" MacBook Pro $1099
13" MacBook Air $999
11" MacBook Air $899
(Rumored the MacBook Air will combine into a single 12" model next year)
12" iPad Pro $899
9.7" iPad Pro $799
9.7" iPad Air $499
7.9" iPad Mini Retina $399
7.9" iPad Mini $299
5.5" iPhone Air $299 (contract)
4.7" iPhone (Mini? Weird!) $199 (contract)
4.0" iPhone 5SC $99 (contract)
4.0" iPhone 5C $0 (contract)
1.8" iWatch $399
1.5" iWatch $299
I'm most uncertain about those last two. It seems likely it will come in different sizes, but how will the pricing work? If one is geared towards men vs. women as the primary difference then it might be the same price. Or there might be different tiers based on quality of design materials as it will be a fashion accessory. But I think the rest of my pricing makes sense, especially after I laid it all out like that. iPad Pro might be slightly off. Thoughts?
You can buy pens for iPad from other companies. Also, you can buy a keyboard dock/use Apple's wireless keyboard if typing on a touch screen is proving difficult.

I enjoy watching (almost invariably negative, hyper critical) ideas spread through mac rumours. Now people are obsessed with apple being obsessed with thinness, so even on a product where it makes complete sense like the iPad - a product that had great battery life but that has until very recently been a bit too chunky - people start! It is entertaining!
