$30 a month is actually quite reasonable for unlimited data. I wonder how much Apple had to beg AT&T for that rate. And unlocked too.

I am SO happy with this.

Do this for the iPhone? Please??

Sorry to quote you but this is to all those in your position:

THIS IS NOT DESIGNED FOR YOU!

If you already have a MBP and an iPhone you're pretty much covered. There's nothing Apple could realisticly introduce that would do more for an acceptable amount of money that you'd want to buy. Not possible. The quicker everyone accepts that their needs are not EVERYONE'S needs the sooner the bitchfest will be over.

At the start of the event Steve said it was a 3rd product between the phone and laptop market. He implied that even if you have a phone and laptop that you could also do with this device. It was designed for us.

oh 3g too for those whining :)

So much for the 3G naysayers. $14.99 (limited data) to $29.99 (unlimited) through ATT purchased through App Store, prepaid no contract. Unlocked, so you can go to another carrier if they offer a better deal.

Camera next? ;)

It is not a physical discomfort for me to read on my Kindle. But it can be for me to read a book, depending on its size. Besides, I cant adjust the print size on a book, I can on my Kindle, thereby making it easier.

To each his own, I guess, but if you can actually read through a novel with Kindle, I admire you.

Me and most of my friends use the device only for very light reading. It's scientific common knowledge that paper is still far, far, far superior in terms of readability, too. Kindle really worked on it, but it's still far from being there yet.

Potential is great. A smaller computer would have been better than a large touch/iphone, IMO.

I think I'll avoid a 1st generation unit and see what they come up with for a 2nd or 3rd gen unit.

No 3G Contract means the phone will not have a subsidized price. Expect prices closer to $500.

People who can afford to buy Apple computers are whining about $9.99 for software?
