First of all the Zune HD screen is NOT HD, although it has HD output supposedly which would be great. So the title is misleading really.

Now the Tablet having a 10" screen and it not being HD would be pretty lame, especially if it is meant to be a Media Tablet. It should also have HD output as well.

I said... EWW UUUGLY!!! Lol. I am glad it will supposedly have OLED though because that puts pressure on Apple to get OLEDs out sooner! :D

The title isn't really that misleading...but either way the Zune HD is running a Tegra processor, it will have HD output. Not supposedly.

If this tablet didn't have a HD screen it would be a complete waste. Same goes is the tablet outputs via the Display Port. I don't want to run adapters, nor do I want to pay for them.

And of course the Zune HD's design is a matter of opinion and personally I like it. All of Apple products look the exact same, and its just boring now.

Perhaps....

I don't see Apple doing a stylus. Too Palm, too 90's. I see them taking the concept of multi touch and expanding it to enable you to write with one finger. Think about it, you hold the Tablet in your left hand and write on it with your right forefinger tracing out the letters. If the tech was there you would write incredibly fast assuming it got the letters right.

I just don't see them doing a stylus and this solves the "how do I type with one hand" question.

How does an analyst get to come in contact with one of these things? I say bs, but I still think that it will be announced next month.

Agreed. Apple has a history of not showing things to anyone. and why would they show it to a stock mag before a tech one. someone is trying to play games. perhaps someone that used Jobs to drive down the stock price is now trying to drive it up. or someone is just trying to get some attention.

But again...they are NOT 3x the cost. You can see a break-down on ANY smart-phone site and even with the royalties they are still making FAR MORE on the iPhone than any iPod Touch.

I do understand the reason behind the extra cost - but 3X? It is COLLUSION between the carriers and the manufactures and the FCC is looking into not just exclusive carrier options but pricing of unsubsidized hardware.

Good luck and as a libertarian I am AGAINST Government intervention but in certain cases intervention is the ONLY way to fix things as a customer will never stop buying a cell phone even if the cost was twice the price - just look at the iPhone! Anyway - that is why no one political philosophy can encompass all the right answers.

has it ever been confirmed AT&T pays Apple $700 for these things? since there is recurring revenue that's what it ends up costing. not like the entire bill goes to pay for network access. i'd say 20% goes for advertising

Sony came out with a product called the "air board" many years ago , it was based on a tablet / picture frame idea portable TV tuner and video playback device with computing developments , I don't think it took off.
If it is just for viewing movies it unfortunately doesn't sound like a break through device as many were touting. Just with the addition of gestures.
It would be great to be able to have aperture and word processing on the move though in a sleek device.

According to Wired magazine online Walt Mossberg "got his hands on an early test unit of the original iPhone in June 2007, weeks before its official release."

yes but after the public announcement by Apple (in Jan 2007).

in this case, someone is claiming to have seen the device before the existence has even been officially confirmed.

I will buy it in a second at any cost as long as it will allow me to use a stylus to draw on and can present keynote presentations. Nothing wrong with using fingers but for fine drawing you need a sharper point.
1. Allow me to use a stylus to draw on
2. For fine drawing you need a sharper point

Sounds like you're buying it, unless there's something else. Personally, if you granted me "layers", "undo", "masks", and "zoom", I think the screen real estate is more convenience than necessity. If I could use an external display as a secondary monitor (when available), it would really blow the doors off of my expectation as suddenly the "drawing tablet" becomes the entire computer and the stylus, however traditional... can happily go away. Good bye smudged fingers. Mankind only invented writing/drawing implements, because they did the work their fingers could not do. A good tablet computer changes that paradigm entirely.

Why are competitor's holding off? Where is their innovation? Where is their game changing, life altering, tablet. Surely they don't need to depend on Apple. There are those that said Apple didn't create this or invent that all the time, so again I ask, why are the competitor's holding off? :apple:

If you are a PC fanboy trolling around here...

"You need to be led, just like everyone else. It's a basic need. ..." Lawnmower Man. :D

Go Apple! Show this market some more innovation! Because it's getting quite stagnate at the moment.

It just goes to show,

Microsoft holds back something, no one cares.

Apple or Google holds back something, everyone is held in suspense.

As I said a couple of times, Apple sells the 32 GB iPhone in Italy in its own online store for €699 or $1000, that includes a VAT of 20%, ie, $830 before tax.
With a €50/month contract that reduces down to €329, with a €100/month contract the price is €229, and with a €150/month contract the price is €129 (all including 20% VAT).

Can i just guess / wish for a 10-13" multi-touch tablet, dockable into an iMac-style stand capable of running full on Mac OS X Snow Leopard, as well as tweaked application interface for iTunes etc, where an iPhone OS "view" would be easier to manage.

"Collusion is an agreement, usually secretive, which occurs between two or more persons to deceive, mislead, or defraud others of their legal rights, or to obtain an objective forbidden by law typically involving fraud or gaining an unfair advantage."

So who is Apple colluding with here? What laws are they breaking? What unfair advantage are they trying to get?

To me it seems that the prices for various Apple-products are set in such way that people are willing to pay those prices. That is, free market has decided the prices.

Are you a layer or attorney? If so - you need to re-read my post and you will see - I answered EVERY SINGLE QUESTION you posted and I REFUSE to answer them again. I made my point and a valid one at that - and you only try and find fault. Does that make you feel better?

It is clear WSJ is not making any money, who is going to subscribe for news that is freely available. So I guess WSJ chose to publish rumors. Least they could do is make sure the rumor is believable.

If I can recall, iPhone was not even seen by ATT executives until a week before introduction and WSJ wants us to believe that an analyst got to see this device? BS.

Anyone think this Tablet could be the ultimate Internet Browser? I mean, Safari on the iPhone is great and all, but it's so small.

Imagine iPhone Safari on a larger screen with multi-touch, flash, ability to download files and overall more Computer-esque qualities? Sounds fairly exciting to me.

My favorite part about these rumors is the inevitable mockup by someone who is hoping that by poorly copying apples style, that maybe somehow they'll get noticed and be offered a job, while at the same time showing that they have no originality or creativity by using a derivative, obvious name like "Mac Touch".

Everybody knows that apple does pay attention and has in the past recruited bright minds from places like that, but you just put yourself on the list of people that will never be offered a job because your head is so firmly crammed into that little box. Awesome.

That's constructive. It's a hobby site dude, I doubt there were ambitions of employment behind the guys mockup.

Has Apple ever been known to offer jobs to people who make mock ups on the internet and participate in rumor sites (which they hate)?

I never made the picture with any intention of getting a job out of it, this is a rumors site and there are hundreds of mockups about on here based on people's ideas and 'wishlists' for upcoming products.
I think visually and a better way for me to say "this is what i hope the apple tablet has......" is to slap together a quick image.

Is that your mock-up? Looks pretty cool! Unfortunately besides my instinct that the Tablet will run iPhone OS there is one HUGE key factor that lends credence to my inkling; and that is that it will most definitely use an ARM processor custom made from their purchase of P.A. Semi and therefore Snow Leopard will NOT run on it! Sorry. :(

Whatever this thing turns out to be, I say bring back the Newton name!

The whole iProduct thing is getting old (the iPhone is about the lamest Apple product name in history, though I do love the device itself).
