Doesn't seem like it. For example, you should be making yearly treks to Belgrade to commemorate Jobmas and Prague for iPhone Day. Actions to show you're a believer! :)
Not my style. I live in Asia and am not really the travelling sort. I may be enthusiastic about Apple products but I am not a fanatic, in that I am not going to go out of my way to visit these "shrines".

Every year the stock manipulators spread false rumors of production cuts and production difficulties. Every single year. And every year everyone falls for it.
What's most amazing is that some people seem to think that this is out of greed, that by making fewer iPhones available this somehow increases demand. They can't get it into their thick skulls that if you don't have enough products, you can't sell as many products as you could otherwise.

I know what it requires - did you even read my question?

What I'm saying is that they market it as a "new phone every year" however, those that bought the iPhone X on launch day will theoretically never be able to get a new phone at launch again (assuming Apple goes back to the traditional late September launch period) unless they pay the additional 2 months of payments. Which basically means you're paying for two months of a phone that you're not using effectively increasing the cost of your new phone.

What's the problem with not getting a new phone on launch date? Are people so obsessive that they need to buy at launch date? If anyone has problems waiting two months for a new phone, then they should seek medical treatment.

10-bit color "capture & display" is the ONLY new feature / capability that will prompt the masses to Upgrade ... and AAPL very-likely knows this ... as such, if they are reducing their Orders, then 10-bit color support is very-likely NOT being added later this year :(
"The masses" don't even know what "10 bit color capture and display" is supposed to mean.

I don’t see Apple giving up millions of dollars for loyalty. Either someone will need to compress their 12 month obligation into a shorter time period (effectively raising the per month fee) or wait. Apple won’t give up that much money just for goodwill. Now I can see them adding the overage onto the monthly payments instead of making people pay it upfront. That would solve the problem without them losing out on millions.
Every iPhone X that gets upgraded to an iPhone X+ means Apple has one phone in their hands that they need to sell as refurbished to make up the difference between cost of the iPhone and 12 monthly payments.

Yes, it would, and suppliers protect themselves from substantial changes to supply orders with contractual penalties should they occur.
I can really see Apple agreeing to a contract with penalties for reducing orders :)

Apple isn't saying "we order 60 million parts for this year" and then later saying "sorry, we need only 40 million, shame that you built 60". They say "we order 5 million for this month", and then "another five million that month", and then "this month it's only 3 million".

Yes Apple is at risk of imminent collapse. We’ve been hearing that one for the past 5 years. Reality is they are reporting their highest profits ever. This is click bait but probably an attempt to depress the stock value which is good for buyers.
Youngster. The first time that I heard of Apple's imminent collapse was about 1982 or 1983.

Best selling because of the higher cost to the consumers, but it’s not the best selling in volume.
Best selling in volume.

It's a combination of both actually. Apple has aggregated the best customers (defined as those with the highest propensity to spend), who are willing to pay the premium prices commanded by Apple.

Just last year, Apple sold over 200 million iPhones, well in excess of most phone manufactures, and each one is a fairly expensive iPhone in its own right (regardless of the model). These two factors have combined together to make Apple extremely profitable and successful.

2018, Apple has no new hardware releases and it is June! No SE-2, no newiPad Mini, no Mac anything. Just copies of Android features for iOS. Totally disappointed!

So either they are not lowering the price of the phones, like rumored, or they want to create a demand. Not good, Apple.

The bigger picture here is high potential that 20mil iPhones could begin production in India this year for local sales at cheaper pricing. iPhone SE, iPhone 7, maybe iPhone 8.

Also take into account iPhone 7 May be end of life after September 2018, alone with 6S, and maybe Apple doesn’t feel the 8 can carry the demand for previous model shoppers.

3 touch based iPhones with no home screens are going to be in HUGE demand, the pricing structure may still serve carrier partners better in terms of sales which means Apple has a larger stock pile of 7,8 and X’s .... lower production get carriers to sell on contract at cheaper pricing and Apple gets you on revetservice fees.

I upgraded every two years since iphone 4. Stayed in line and excited to purchase new iphone 4, 6. purchased iphone 7 out of a carrier deal but not much excitement there.

For the first time ever, I don't feel any hype or excitement with this new iphone x/ x plus. I like the new x plus due to its screen size but I am willing to wait for good deal. No need to buy on release date.

it is true that mobile phone growth has already peaked. it will be plateau and on decline going forward. It just a nature law that any tech would face: PC, DVD, LCD, etc.

I feel like I’m the only person in the world who dreams of a powerful Mac mini with a BATTERY. I’m going to keep posting this until I feel the idea has taken root. If they release a new Mac mini that has to stay plugged in...man I don’t want to think about it.

Is anybody out there really still listening to what analysts say and taking it at face value? I thought the constant “iPhone X is doomed” stories would be the final nail in the blanket coverage their views receive from the tech press.

Tech diminishing over time is just a matter of time. No need analyst to tell you that. the big question is when.

Well Apple, no one can live in the spotlight forever. If companies stays strong all their lives, it world get rather boring...

There's gotta be an dip somewhere.
Well, this isn’t a dip...Nikkei never has a clue what they’re talking about and is consistently wrong.

LOL, dare I say this, a broken clock is right 2 times a day, so it has to happen some year now... (said in jest)

I'll have to get the LCD model since last year's X gave me headaches and I had to return it. I hope they can make the newer versions with headache free results.

I really hope they keep upgrading the 6/7/8 line of iPhones with touch ID and a rectangular screen. I put off my upgrade cycle by a year last year because I thought the X was too expensive and too full of ridiculous compromises. I'd like to upgrade this year, but again, not if the X line is all that's new.
Im sorry, but no. There not still updating the iPhone 4 design, or the iPhone 3G design. Once they change it, they stick with it

I didn't say anything about the 3 4 or 5 design, I said the 6/7/8, which yes, they did update last year. You know, the 8 and 8 Plus which sold more units combined than the X. So yes, it is quite possible there could be an 8s/9 this year. That's what I want.

I'm in no rush for a new iPhone. My 7 has been working perfectly well and I don't want a phone that's ALL glass. With the $29 battery replacement I expect my phone to keep working fine for another 2 years. After the 7, there hasn't been any new features that I "must have". I suspect we're nearing, or have already hit, smartphone peak.
You sound more like you're trying to justify your old phone. If you actually didn't care you wouldn't be in this thread announcing it.
[doublepost=1528770243][/doublepost]
Having the iPhone X, there is no need to upgrade to this year's iPhone X2. 2019 iPhone X3 will be the one to upgrade to. This year's will be more of an S upgrade.
The iPhone X was the beta test for what's coming. 2nd gen products are usually the best. We get 6+ inch form factor too in the size of the old iPhone Plus body. You're right that if you already have an X you don't need it though.

Nah, the X was definitely not a beta test. Not even close. The 2018 iPhones will be nearly the exact same, and the 2019 versions will be the same (outside) but lots of new features inside.

Did you adjust for inflation? Also the new phones now do a lot more than the high end phones from 4+ years ago.

Inflation numbers don't typically include smartphones, but if we were to apply a nominal inflation rate to the iPhone over 10 years, we'd get the following math.

2007 iPhone est. price $650 new (unsubsidized) with a 2% (high) inflation per year would net in a phone price of $824.36.

for $999 to be the price with inflation, it would have meant an inflationary rate of 25%
