So tell us, when did you decide to blow both of yours off?

Regardless of Aiden's, your behaviour seems quite typical to the teenage bully living in their parent's basement and not that of a smart person able to behave in a mature manner.

But what do I know, right...

Would you like to explain? All Dmann seems to be doing is pointing out flaws in logic. So you're calling him a psyc student?

And you consider this to be mature?

Speaking for yourself are you? You have managed to do a fairly adequate job, at that.

It's all about spin control; how about positioning it as an improvement over the old way of eliminating data form your computer.....;)

You want to see REAL spin control ?

First you have to had seen one of Microsoft's Laptop Hunter ads.

Second you have to know that Microsoft's new "store" sells computers.

Third you have to look at this screen grab.

Sorry, but that screen capture is a load of crap. You filter on low price, fast CPU and small memory.

Is it a surprise that the filter you've chosen doesn't match any system?

Sheesh....

Even funnier is that the Dell Studio 15 (http://store.microsoft.com/microsoft/Dell-Studio-15-Spring-Green/product/4934A11C) and Sony VGN-NW250F (http://store.microsoft.com/microsoft/Sony-VGN-NW250F/product/16D119F1) don't show up in your capture because they have 4 GiB of RAM - more memory than is in your filter. If you clear your "small memory" filter, you'll see those.

LOL

That filter was in line with the laptop hunter ads that said macs were more expensive and the person got a "better" laptop.

The laptop hunter ads defined their hunt :

Less than a $1000
Faster CPU
Bigger screen
More memory

Here's the ad :

More memory

That's your mistake. If you remove the "extra memory" filter, you realize that today it's a "small memory" filter.

Systems in that price range are shipping with Windows 7 x64 and 4 GiB of RAM. Your "2.5 GiB to 3.0 GiB" filter hid systems with more value.

(After the initial post, I removed the memory filter, saw the extra systems - and edited my post to say "small memory" instead of "extra memory". You replied in the small window when my post said "extra memory" and didn't list the Dell and Sony systems....)

sorry but PC laptops dont have crap specs like Macbooks do.

maybe you should filtered ONLY by price, in fact when i do that myself all i see are laptops with 320-500GB HDD's and 4GB of ram

hell if you go to newegg and do that you see gaming laptops for $800 that have video cards with 1GB of ram.

current PC's have never had crap specs for the money, only macs.
macs have looks and a nice OS, thats about it.

wanna reword that? There are tons of **** PC's out there with crappy specs, or do you only look at the ones that suite your own agenda?

But I thought Windows malware was just a lie invented by evil Apple and their infuriating and slanderous "I'm A Mac" ads?

LOL! Comedy gold!

iMac's are OK since the last refresh, but i can configure a Dell laptop for $1500 or less with better specs than a $3000 15" MBP now. battery life is not as good, but you can buy 3 extra batteries and still come out over $1000 ahead with the Dell

I'm not arguing that Macs aren't more expensive than PCs in most cases. Most people have been fully aware of this for many years. It's a fact I accept and I'm willing to pay the premium for the accompanying benefits. YMMV.

What I was laughing at was pr5owner's ridiculous contention that there aren't PC laptops with crap specs.

Right...

You might as well be linking to Roughly Drafted or SemiAccurate.

Pretty much. The amusing part is that if one uses Sophos to state that Windows 7 is vulnerable to 8 out of 10 viruses without protection - and note that they don't give details here or what they had to do to get them on - then one also has to believe that every Mac user should run AV because they're just as vulnerable to malware as Windows is.

People should really check their sources before they end up looking foolish.

I know one user here had a father who had trouble with several programs in Windows 7. Are there other issues that are known (you know, besides incompatibility)? I haven't run into any yet but there just have to be some.

Is he by chance using Home Premium Edition, the premium edition which excludes XP virtualization mode?

for the price of a macbook ($999) pc's dont have crap specs. $999 in the PC world will get you a lappy with gaming level specs

for $2500 the price of an imac, do you know what kind of beast machine you can get? especially if you assemble it yourself?

Yeah, what would an anti-virus company know about viruses? So instead of trusting Windows, we should trust.... you? ;)

Just good natured teasing. You couldn't pay me to use Windows at this point. I had to use it all week on a project and I was ready to murder someone by the end of each day.

Viruses or no, I can't stand that OS. Then again, they do have that positively lovely Zune HD... :D

You're right, I can assemble a dual Xeon 2.26 Nehalem with 3 GB of Ram for less than that! But I won't.

Because it's windows. :(

That was me, and no, it was Windows 7 Professional. And there are apps that he has not been able to get working with XP virtualization mode. He just gave up and is using VirtualBox with XP in it for those apps.

LOL! Comedy gold!

$999 Macbook specs (13.3")

2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (slow)
2GB (two 1GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 (half the ram of the pc)
250GB 5400-rpm Serial ATA hard disk drive; (missing 100+GB of space)
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM (garbage onboard video card with no ram at all)

ASUS N81 Series N81Vp-X1 (14")
Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 2.53G (faster than the mac)
4GB DDR3 (faster and double the ram)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 1GB of video ram (WAY faster than the mac with 1GB more video ram)
320GB 7200RPM (larger and faster)

in every aspect in relation to specs the pc was faster for a little cheaper
mac specs are CRAP for the price.

PC's dont have a specific OS, windows is optional as with ubuntu, fedora, BSD, etc

if you dont like windows and you buy it for a new rig, thats kind of your own dumb fault, use something else.
