What is it with Apple and their terrible Boomer taste?

Apple wants big money big name celebrities that appeal to a certain demographic. Clearly, you and I are not in that group. That's OK, I don't look to tech companies for good musical taste.

For a real challenge they should offer the option to remix her Eurovision performance. A fully spec'ed Mac Pro to the first person to make it listenable :)

Well, during her "career" she's remade herself many times, so she should keep trying! As the Stooges said, "If at first you don't succeed, keep on suckin' til you do suck seed."

What's with the Madonna bashing? She's a genuine music legend and Apple did a smart thing to team up with her.

Yes, she's a legend in her own mind. Granted she had some top pop hits, but can she match the raw voice talent of Lady Gaga or Grande? Rhetorical question, so no need to answer.

Most people's musical tastes seem to get locked in at a young(-ish) age, and they just keep listening to those same old songs - or, at best, new songs by the same old artists - for the rest of their lives. Combine that fact that people Madonna's age are pretty much in their peak earning years right now, and you can see why Apple panders to that demographic.

Not to mention that Tim Cook and most of Apple's current leadership are also in that general age range.

I’m going to answer anyway... I’ve never been a huge listener to her music, and I don’t own any of her albums, but I would put her heads and shoulders above the two you mention. Lady Gaga almost certainly wouldn’t exist if Madonna hadn’t paved the road ahead of her.

I’d put her on my list of Very Important Artists That I Don’t Enjoy, along with Elvis and the Stones. I’ve never considered “raw voice talent” all that important in any of the music I do listen to, so I can’t judge her on that. As a songwriter, musical artist, cultural phenomenon, and business person she’s in rarified company.

That said, my disagreement with your opinion is offset by that great Three Stooges quote. ;)

Well, even if you despise Madonna and/or her music? It's sort of interesting she was willing to let one of her songs get deconstructed and remixed this way, because she's done this before too.

If anyone remembers the old ACID Pro sound loop editor package for Windows? They used to run contests to remix songs from packages they'd have you download as ZIP files, and upload your best results. Madonna shared "Ray of Light" and a couple of other tracks back then, and helped judge the contest winners herself.

Sorry, but there is nothing like the real thing. Apple's turning these attendees into their own crappy version.
