Lol, why do some people hate Oprah so much? I really know nothing about her other than her Wikipedia article, so idk.
She’s kinda obnoxious and annoying. Her show was really formulaic and she brought other annoying people like Dr. Phil to prominence. She isn’t a very good actress and a lot of people were upset when she narrated Planet Earth in the U.S. when Sir David Attenborough is the perfect and correct voice for it. There are also a lot of people on the left who want her to be president and that also REALLY annoys me. I’m tired of celebrity presidents all around!

That's mostly what I was guessing. When I read anything about weight loss when Google searching her, I figured she was one of those people you see on magazine covers as you pay at a grocery store.

Well, if it makes you feel better, the younger gens don't seem to care about her whatsoever.

Stop wasting money and resources on stuff like this and put it into operating systems and hardware.
Think they have money enough for both.
But wasting it on Oprah crap is just so low. But that’s Timmy.
Why don’t they get in league with National Geographic and doing Tv and films that even could support our Earth. Some damn quality.
That kind of things would make me proud and interested of Apple’s journey into the TV-world.
Not this.

Cook is doing a fantastic job. Absolutely phenomenal. Anyone who disagrees has personal vendettas because the product they want updated hasn’t been.

They also usually don’t understand business or executing a strategy at all.
They just understand Macs. An obvious Cook blind spot

You forgot that she got her TV show start by being a man bashing show as well. It was her and Jerry Springer doing very similar shows, but Oprah's was 50% man-bashing. Only after a couple years, did she tone it down and evolve to what people are now familiar with.

Not that any true fan of Oprah would ever admit this, as they have stricken it from their memories. But Boy-oh-Boy, do they LOVE to deny it.

Does anyone else wonder if this is Apple's way of funding the next presidential candidate, but by paying the $ prior to a presidential run, they avoid the issue of appearing to buy a politician?

I think I will let Apple do Apple here. I have yet to see mass agreement on this site with any decision Tim Cook has made since being selected to be CEO, but yet he has overseen quarter after quarter of record sales and profits. The same people claim everything Apple does now is a failure, but somehow they are 80% higher in revenue than when he took over. Nearly double, but the competition these people and the media fawn over are barely showing a profit if at all. The business graveyard is filled with companies who had massive revenues but not profit, because their investors finally said enough is enough.

They said the same about Ballmer to begin with...

I think that Apple provided a better product when their revenue was a fraction of what it is now.

This is what should worry the fan boys. The complacency has set in and the hunger has gone (maybe not the hunger to add another million to their obnoxious salaries).

They will be good milking the public for a few more years yet but before you know it a leaner more nimble rival will be along eating their lunch.

Don’t @ me if you’re just here to blow off Cook.

Really Apple? You signed Oprah. You didn't see how she screwed Sirius XM for $55 million??????
She was signed and basically did nothing then they dropped her after eating $55 million. Good luck.....

Slowly beginning to hate Apple despite still liking their products - stay the hell out of politics, and do what you're good at. First step: get rid of that limp wristed CEO.

Yeah, I'm not old enough to remember old school Oprah. One of the first things I remember about her is her losing a bunch of weight and then doing a bunch of shows about it (I would see it because my mom would always be watching it when I would get home from school) and then later on it was more self-help, Dr. Phil, everyone gets a free car, etc. By that point she was completely ridiculous and I can't believe anyone would consider her for political office, much less office of the president, but people who are just as crazy have become president so who knows. Nothing in the world makes sense any more.

Don't act like it's a few people in niches. The only products that've been well-updated have been the iPhone and the Apple Watch. Not even the iPad has seen enough good updates. They've entirely killed off numerous products too.

On the software user experience side, it's oddly the opposite. They've been doing a wonderful job with macOS but an absolute garbage job with iOS.

Why is this mindset so prevalent on this forum? Apple should just buy out every competitor? WHY?
Well, as a dev who occasionally has to use Apple's websites and often finds them down, I'd like them to take a few scalability/reliability hints from Netflix, who are famous for that. :D
Seems Apple has all those increasingly rare and talented embedded systems engs but not a very strong web team.

The iPad is awesome...by FAR the best tablet experience.

The products they've killed don't matter and the other products are just not updated like YOU would like. Again, Apple has all the data to know how quickly they need to update stuff. iPhone has a lot of exposure, so naturally it is a priority.

No, really the timely updates they provided aren't popular. iOS 11, 2016+ rMBP (almost everyone here uses a MBP but stopped at 2015). Pretty much the entire Mac line is out of date, and you know, people use those.

The iPad is the best tablet, but they haven't been updating it much.

iOS 11 is great now...

Apple doesn't consider the Mac out of date and they know more about their users than we do. If it were so out of date, they'd update the hardware. The software is perfectly fine too.

Do I think the Macs could use a hardware update? Sure, but when Apple's strategy calls for it, it will happen.

They said the same about Ballmer to begin with...

Ballmer's initial rein included the launch of Windows XP - a hugely successful OS for Microsoft. So comparing Tim Cook's first 5 years to Ballmer's first 5 years might not be too crazy - both carried on the success of their respective companies.

Eventually, the Ballmer comparison will have to stop. Tim Cook will continue Apple's success for long enough or, there will be actual evidence of problems within Apple / Apple missing a major industry shift, etc.

It's the classic "predict the end of the world and one day you'll be right" crap from you guys. One day you'll be right, because you have to be. No company can last forever.

But in the present: Apple's revenue, profit, customer satisfaction, new products - none of that will change your mind, or make you think maybe Apple is doing okay for now.
