Agree. Should either be per device, or the amount of the smallest Apple device storage you own. Makes 0 sense if I have a 128gb iphone and want to do a backup, that you can't even back everything up with the free tier.2 iMacs,2MacMinis,1Mabook Pro,3Apple TV's,1iPad,2iPhones.....And they give me 5GB of storage???? How about 5GB for each device? I refuse to pay them a penny more.
If it was 5gb per device then maybe Ok, but it isn’tand wait for people to still complain about getting 5gb for free
It gets really weird when you consider you can’t backup a (full) 64GB+ device with the lowest paid tier, or a 256GB+ device with the mid paid tier! I guess in that regard this is quite a good concession, but it makes physical local backups seem the more convenient route overall, considering how cheap a 1TB external HD is.Agree. I can. My 5GB isn't even half full. I don't store photos in iCloud, or really use the camera on the phone. I use a real camera, so 5GB is plenty for me.Makes sense to remove barriers for customers buying more products, lol.
The 5GB of iCloud storage is still pretty funny. Who can even get by on that much? Sometimes a single 4K60 Dolby HDR video from the iPhone Pro is larger than that.
If it was 5gb per device then maybe Ok, but it isn’t
considering you're getting 5 years of iOS software updates along with 5GB of iCloud storage for the next 50 years, $399 iPhone SE is a good valueConsidering how expensive Apple hardware is, iCloud storage is far from free.
but what about the $1500 iPhone 12? or the $2000 iPads? or the $3000 mbps? all of which have a rough lifespan of support of 5-6 years?considering you're getting 5 years of iOS software updates along with 5GB of iCloud storage for the next 50 years, $399 iPhone SE is a good value
Now we all name this service iCloud, by adding today the “ + “, we have to name it from Now iCloud+ for almost the same service with just few new options who i personaly think they dont really deserve a new name.+how so?
faster and larger local storage, better and bigger screens, lidar, faceid tech, better materials, better chips, better cameras, more memory, 5G chip, ultra wideband chip, magsafebut what about the $1500 iPhone 12? or the $2000 iPads? or the $3000 mbps? all of which have a rough lifespan of support of 5-6 years?
Valid point with the older folks. I guess Apple added the + to keep from having to the Plus. There did need to be some kind of separation from the free tier. Now we all name this service iCloud, by adding today the “ + “, we have to name it from Now iCloud+ for almost the same service with just few new options who i personaly think they dont really deserve a new name.
Im maybe too lazy to add it a-t-il the end, also im often helping old people who this new named will certainly disturbe them as they dont make différences between mostof they’re subscriptions.
For Apple TV, the “ + “ open on a new service.
It's all the same for Catalina onwards, just been moved into finder. They got rid of iTunes, so how do we back up the devices now?
(I am still on Mojave with iTunes 12.6.5.3)
