It gets really weird when you consider you can’t backup a (full) 64GB+ device with the lowest paid tier, or a 256GB+ device with the mid paid tier! I guess in that regard this is quite a good concession, but it makes physical local backups seem the more convenient route overall, considering how cheap a 1TB external HD is.

Exactly I have thousands on top of thousands of local storage, I just pay apple .99 a month for the 50gb option mainly for the private relay and fake email options. I think a buck a month is worth it for that.

Thank you for that Apple. Now fix the 5GB free plan. This is ridiculous in 2021

I have the 2TB tier with Apple One sub, so I am willing to pay for this service. But if Apple want more people to eventually subscribe on the paid iCloud subscription, they need to give a little more in the free tiers

And they need more tiers. Why nothing between 200GB and 2TB? Put something like 500GB and then if people are straining 200, they might might be more likely to just upgrade than trimming the far to avoid the charge for 2TB

The other is why no annual??? Every other Apple Service is annual, and even Google has annual pricing for cloud
