Good. Is deserved.

Whilst I personally think 30% is a high cut that isn’t the issue that Epic is arguing.

The idea that Apple is being “anticompetitive” and a “monopoly” is laughable when they also release their game’s on PC, Mac, Android, PS4, Nintendo and Xbox etc.

Epic have plenty of competing choices to distribute their games. They just want to cut out the middlemen to keep their profits.

I just played some Fortine on my PS4, they have a bunch of awesome Marvel skins going on this Season. I’m assuming most ppl have access to Fortnite on a device outside Apple’s ecosystem, and most Fortnite players that do use iOS, already have the game downloaded, still, this whole thing sucks for new players and those who are buying new devices.

Buuut... your message is not basically straight anti-Epic wanting them to die because they 'offended' Apple the deity, you must not be real !

It’s not ended, yet.

EPIC will win, and Apple will have to pay damages later.
Ohh boy this will be expensive for Apple... 🤣

If I got a cut of every developer's and content creator's sale, I'd be worth 2T too. There's a reason why they stopped reporting unit sales in their financial reports... nothing compares this golden parachute.

And I'd bet they are willing to pay anything to protect it.

Stores always take a cut. You sell Fortnite at Walmart, they take a cut. You sell in-app purchases in the App Store, then Apple is totally reasonable to want a cut. If you think you can thrive without the marketplace/middle-man, then by all means sell direct to consumers...but don’t try to have your cake and eat it too, using someone else’s marketplace but bypassing them in sales.

That is literally what they are trying to do. Sell directly to consumers. Apple won’t allow that, because, reasons. How do you guys not see the problem? Also that’s not how retail works anyway. Stores buy from manufacturers at a fixed price and then mark it up to make a profit. Profit isn’t guaranteed to the store.

Do you think Apple should make $0 on the AppStore? That's stupid. Let's do the same to every other digital storefront, retailer, food place, clothing etc. They don't need to make money.

No loss since Apple hasn't been considered a gaming platform for the last four decades since the Apple II. And, most people have another device like Nintendo Switch, Playstation, Xbox, PC, Android, etc. that they can continue playing Fortnite on.

Epic has a GamePass for $4.99?

And how, precisely, do they sell directly to consumers on iOS?

This is the problem with the defenders, they’re expecting iOS to be something it isn’t.

Apple isn’t an open universe. It doesn’t claim to be. If anything it’s one of their strengths.

You buy an Apple product - you get Apple hardware. You get Apple software. You get the Apple ecosystem.

Apple has every right to dictate what does and does not go on their products. They have made it. If that isn’t appealing to an end user there are plenty of alternative products out there

And how, precisely, do they sell directly to consumers on iOS?

They don’t. iOS is Apple’s store in this analogy. If Epic wants to benefit from the billions Apple has spent on development, manufacturing and promotion of their iOS products over the years, they have to play by the rules which currently requires a 30% cut.

If they want their own app store, fine. They can do what Apple did and spend the $ to create an EpicPhone with EpicOS and do what they want with it.

You’re telling me you can play it on a PS4?

But I thought Apple was an anti competitive monopoly. So there are other competing devices you can get this game, from other competing stores? 🤯
