I switched to a low carb (25g or less) three years ago and was able to reverse my type 2 diabetes within the first 6 months to 1 year. I get my A1C tested every 6 months and intermittently wear a CGM to fine-tune my eating habits. For example: Eating ½ cup of raw carrots alone raises my blood glucose levels by 45 points (mg/dl) but eating them with fat and or protein only raises it by 20 points.

Carrots are normally 7% sugar, so a spike is to be expected unless diminished by eating stuff first. Veg first usually works best (e.g. salad as a starter). Fat is also good but I admit that's hard to do at Breakfast but eating sugar/carbs cereal first is generally not best. Have you tried low carb cereals (usually nuts/seeds based)? I found 15% carb cereal from Paleo works fine but needs to be followed with some sugar for energy (e.g. Berries)

I was 100% carnivore for 12 months (zero carbs, grains or seed oils) and eat OMD (one meal a day) always at 3pm. I was able to get my A1C down from 7.6 to 4.6 where it’s stayed for the past 12 months. I only started eating ½ cup of carrots a day for the tiny bit of ruffage they provide. I’ve also stopped eating any processed foods including cereals. If it has more than 3 ingredients I won’t eat it. My cardiologist is on this same diet ( which is where I got it from).

For Stelo users... any chance the API can be accessed for real time readings in apps like Sugarmate, or Sweet Dreams? I like throwing my phone away for a bit while going for a run, and just getting my G7 readings on my Apple Watch, but assuming the Stelo app doesn't have such ability to pair directly to watch?

Isn't that what used to be called the Atkins diet ? (I was on that for a year 50 odd years ago !).
Celeriac has only 1.8% sugar and will give you the roughage, as an alternative.

Technically the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 can do it, but Samsung doesn't promote it, which is likely a good thing, because reviews says it isn't very accurate. One review I read wrote that it can report if your levels are way off, so maybe slightly useful? Samsung likely wanted to beat Apple to it, but couldn't produce a reliable instrument.

If rumors are starting at some point that Apple will release glucose measuring in the Apple Watch, I will stock up on AAPL. It will definitely jump on the official release. Non-invasive glucose meassurering will be an amazing thing globally.
I have Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra which can be calibrated with the cuff based BP monitoring and point out the AGE Index (which includes High Sugar and poor lifestyle habits like smoking, not exercising enough, not getting enough sleep etc…) every day. This is closer to the non invasive Blood Glucose measurement. Samsung Watch 7 Ultra was rumoured to come up with BG and BP measurement levels long before its release but stopped at AGE indicator level. Most likely the pharma industry, medical industry at large (equipment sellers and blood glucose strips makers etc…) may get affected if this becomes mainstream. Hence there are good chances that these things will be bested down as inaccurate and regulators will get their pay out to stop these things. Even the BP monitoring in Watch 7 Ultra requires regular calibration with a cuff based BP measurement tool. These satanic illuminate pharma mafia are everywhere.

I'm a G7 user, so I can't answer your question. But I didn't realize that Sugarmate or Sweet Dreams (I've heard about it but never checked it out) worked with the G7.

Do you use those more for tracking trends and things like that? Or do they work as realtime apps, instead of using the Dexcom G7 app? Just curious, and I hope the Stelo does offer API support so devs can integrate their apps with it too.

My general rule of thumb... the base apps be it Dexcom or Abbott are not innovative or trend setting. Use the base apps to start your sensor, and calibrate, otherwise, never open them. Anyone who is deemed access to the Dexcom API can show your data in near real time (typically less than a minute from the reading).

I just think the third party apps are much more robust. Dark mode when you've got an alarm to look at when it's 2AM. Sweet Dreams can use dynamic island to always show your reading on your phone when you're in other apps. Push your readings to an iCloud calendar, so you can see the data on Carplay or on an Apple Watch, getting around the complication refresh limitation that Apple implemented. Happy Bob has snark to yell at you to go get something to eat, or start running.

Sugarmate has a stat you can use telling you how many minutes or hours you've been in range, tie in to Apple to show exercise minutes, and track food pretty darn well. When you're after a stat, like being in range for 24 hours on MDI, that tally is really app gamification. I got it to 250+ hours in range once. My wife shrugs her shoulders, and wonders what is so tough, but technically this type 1 has a lower a1c than her.

Avocados are great if you like them, usually have half of one at every meal.
