They know it sounds so arbitrary and it probably is, but they somehow are pushing and pushing to convince everybody it isn't. They apparently designed and implemented this feature to run off resources only available on the M1 but can't somehow just say so.

That’s how the Internet is. They want to place blame on Apple for cost cutting and being inconvenient to the user, when they have no idea the logistics of why Stage manager being limited to iPad M1’s.
Well, Apple is making the iPad become mostly about education and prosumers market; netizens are very angry because they want the iPad for entertainment uses only.

Sounds like they are doing a lot of damage control with the constant justifications. As a 2018 iPP owner, I’m not disappointed with no Stage Manager, but I am by the lack of custom/smaller display scaling and lack of proper external monitor support. The features shouldn’t all be tied together and limited to the Mx equipped iPads, surely?

A little lie: Not all iPad M1 have 16GB of RAM. Most M1 models have 8GB.
The M1 is about 30% faster than previous CPU.
So, just tell me how much RAM is needed for this to perform “as you expect it”.
As if you cared for the performance hit in many iPhones each year. You can see the benchmarks every year and older devices perform faster in older IOS versions, now, all of a sudden, you care about the performance…

The A12X and A12Z are 4-year old chips. Be prepared that the M1 iPads get more features that those 4-year old chips don’t.

Samsung devices only gets 4-years worth of updates and then it is over. So before everybody starts screaming bad Apple, on Android it is even worse.

I believe my iPad Air 2 is able to run the latest iPad OS even.

Buyer's Guide: 11" iPad Pro (Don't Buy), 12.9" iPad Pro (Caution)

huh? Arent the 11 and 12.9 usually updated at the same time? Shouldn't they both be "don't buy"?

It’s based on average days between releases and # of days since last release. The very first 12.9” iPP existed before the 11” model did, and the 12.9” had a longer time between its first release and its second release, making its average number of days between releases higher.

  • 11”
    • 466 days between releases on average
    • 410 days since last release
  • 12.9”
    • 499 days between releases on average
    • 410 days since last release
