only taller? um.. i'd prefer one that is a bit more wider and a bit more taller, than one which is just tall, it just looks odd imo.
But, but, but... it has the old antenna system!![]()
But most Cocoa Touch apps should work without modification if they have been developed correctly.
1136x640 is more appropriate than 1138x640 for scaling 16:9 content. Neither is perfect but 1136 is easy to scale as long as you sacrifice 1 line of pixels while 1138x640 is hard to scale no matter what.
With WWDC in a few weeks, do you really think that they are concept testing the large screen? If they are going to do an unveiling, they'd better have already made their mind up whether or not the screen is going to change.
Then again, this may not be a concept test but a UAT test.
I also like a previous comment, got to use those mock ups![]()
I disagree - part of what has made the App Store so successful is the ease of developing for every iOS device. Apple knows this.
The point is very easy to see. By having a taller screen and reducing bezel below and above the screen, they can equip the phone with a larger display without the making the phone much larger than it is now, effectively killing two birds with one stone. I don't like the aspect ratio much, but if the size is kept to the current iPhone size, it might be a worthwhile trade off for many.
That sounds very nice, except the screen really isn't "larger", it's just longer.
It is a completely pointless and stupid concept. I'll laugh my @$$ off if Apple tries to sell this thing.
I agree. Not making the next iPhone wider won't solve the problem of website text being too small nor will it solve the problem of videos being too small. Seeing more of the top and bottom or sides of the screen isn't the problem I have. The overall current screen is too small for me. I would rather Apple keep the same aspect ratio and make the phone overall bigger proportionally.
I wanted a smaller one. And one that does not connect people who blabber in Armenian, mexican Spanish and individuals who have nothing interesting interesting to say.
Obviously you've never developed an app. Changing the resolution will break a hell lot of apps (or add black bars to them)
That's a really nice mockup.
I don't have the black bars because I use the zoom in feature in the video app. I already use the full screen of the current iPhone and that's my reference point when I say the screen is too small. Adding only more width in landscape mode isn't going to make my viewing any larger since I already use the full screen. You do realise that video is what would benefit most from this?
Now you have black borders below and above video content as the iphone's 2:3 aspect ratio is different from widescreen video. By making the screen longer you can actually display the video on the entire screen, not a fraction of it like now.
You increase the size of the video displayed in both vertical and horizontal direction.
No kidding, I was just thinking about that the other day.
With multiple charging stations all around my house, sounddocks, my car iphone/ipod dock, this will make everything useless, and make me mad
