Apple is pushing these awesome colourful iPhones because, the younger market is really going to go for this phone.

When teenagers ask their parents for the new iPhone that is not top of the line ... parents will jump all over that.

I absolutely love this phone ... and I am in my 40s :apple:

Higher profit margin not only in terms of the outer shell but also because of existing economies of scale as its the same internals as a 5.

OP: Stop trying to justify your decision in getting the 5C from your stupid accusations. Apple markets their products based on the current market, not based on what they think is the "better" product. You couldn't get your hands on the 5S and you got the inferior phone. End of story.

Not always true. My wife returned her 5s today and got a blue 5c instead. I tried to convince her to keep it but she told me that it's not much faster than the 5 and the 5c does everything she needs fast. She wanted the blue for a change so she got one. Don't always assume people got the 5c because they couldn't get the 5s. Different people like different things. I have a 5s and compared to the 5 I had, it's faster only by a tiny bit.

They are both iPhones, however I think there might be something along the lines of Apple is trying to better market the iPhone 5C because they don't want the 5C to be tossed aside as a "cheap" and junky device.

They aren't undermining the 5S, but they don't want their efforts on making the 5C a good device to go unnoticed.

I know everyone has different reasons and preferences, and there's certainly nothing wrong with wanting a 5C. My previous post was referring to the OP.

It depends on you, there are people liking the the 5c and there are people preferring the aluminium iphones  I personally prefer the aluminium iphone :p

Who is the target demo for these phones? All the tweens and college kids that I observed from going to several apple stores is they are going all the way... and getting the 5s.

I finally went into an Apple Store and actually checked out the 5C.

It's gorgeous!!

I'd honestly trade my iPhone 5 (White 32Gb) for a 5C in a flash, if anyone wanted to.

I'm sure you will get a lot of responses if you go on craigslist or the marketplace here on macrumors.

A lot of people would rather have the 5 instead of the 5c so it's a perfect match.

When I held the 5c in my hands for the first time, I was amazed how well it felt. It felt like the highest quality plastic. Solid, not flimsy like Galaxy phones.

On Saturday I found my new space gray iPhone 5S 16GB. While at the store, the best mobile employee could tell I knew what I wanted, had my research, and was kind of a fanboy. He asked if I had held the 5C and I said I had not. He had one sitting there and handed it to me for inspection. It is certainly not a cheap plastic feel. It felt as well built as any iPhone I've held. That said, the specs of the 5S sold me from go.

Then I fell in love with it. I never thought the 5c would be as good as it is. Apple really outdid themselves this time.

I agree. In terms of design, its a winner.

I do wish they'd put the M7 chip (motion sensor controller) into the 5c, though. It would be a good match for its target market given that apps like Runtastic and Nike+ can make great use of it.

I doubt it would have costed them much to do this, and the 5S would still be differentiated enough by its fingerprint sensor and faster CPU/GPU.

Given there isn't much difference in price between the 5c and 5S, I think its really a case of the 5c being Apple's most *profitable* phone :)

There is absolutely nothing 'cheap' about the iPhone....even the manufacture cost points to that...only a $16 difference between the 2 hand-sets..

I too got the 5S and returned that for a 5C...why?...because visually to me, it's more striking than the 5S...it is way way way more comfortable to hold and feels more solid. No sleep/wake button rattles, no creaks and certainly no scuffGate...

Speed-wise? - it's negligible...

Sure, the Touch id is great and camera more advanced but the 5C is no less advanced....in my view, what Apple have done with the design and the polycarbonate speaks 'advanced' that at this stage, no other smart-phone manufacturer has come close to...and I've owned nearly every flagship from each respective OS...

my 2 cents:)

You really think so?

Might give it a shot. I'd swap it for sure.

Oh yeah.

A lot of people are divided on the materials used. Since the internals are more-or-less the same it comes down to preference of aluminum vs polycarbonate body.

Personally I'd trade a year old 5 for a 5c in a heartbeat for the battery life and year longer warranty... but others out there are still looking to pick up a aluminum body iPhone 5 for $99 or less.

Can't hurt to try, post something on craigslist and see if you get any bites.

I'm on one of the largest college campuses in the country right now. Most people that I've talked to about the new IPhone have opted to stay with their 5. Most of any "college" students going into Apple to buy the new phone within the first week are more than likely Apple enthusiasts and are no different then the fans who upgrade every year. No of this is scientific just comparing observations.
