Dear Apple, please go back to announcing things only when they are ready to roll out.
When there is nothing to announce and Mobile World Congress took place and got all the attention from a tsunami of news Apple is trying to steal some thunder. Microsoft used to do the same years ago and promised a lot but often failed to deliver.

How the tables have turned

The service is months off? Reminiscent of Airpower debacle. I will believe it when I see it.
And then when it actually there, you’ve lost interest and it’s already old news. Like AirPower or the HomePod which still isn’t available over here.

Chances we see AirPower first?
We should make a pool for betting, lol. My bet is we don’t see anything real before fall.

I miss when Apple announcements meant things were available same day, or at most same week.

Are you kidding? This aligns perfectly with selling laptops and phones that require the passage of time to use them fully (time required to convince yourself to buy new dongles/adapters/cables/usb hubs, and/or to suck it up hard and spend even more on new usb-c hardware, AirPods, etc...)

Ah seems like this will be the perfect event to preview the new Mac Pro, seeing as its an event for Apple things that will be launching at some point in some time in some future...

If Apple do this it’s nothing but a stunt to try and drive up share price, nothing more. Otherwise they’d wait till it’s actually ready.

I’m sure looking to announce whatever they can for 1st quarter news. Milk what they can regardless when might show up.

TV Service + Airpower coming sometime in the near future..... ie 2025!

Kidding aside, I'm intrigued by the interesting lineup of producers/directors behind the new Apple TV series, it might surprise us, this one of the very few things I think Apple might be doing well these days.

since there's already a Dish TV package of 290 channels with about 286 of them junk, it'll be interesting to see what  plans to bring to the table. We'll find out soon enough.

Dear Apple, please go back to announcing things only when they are ready to roll out.

Why?

I certainly don’t mind Apple pre-announcing a service or product. Clearly there are excellent reasons Apple chooses to do so.

For sure that isn’t something that will get me frothed up along with a case of the shakes.

I’m really hoping this is a YoutubeTV/SlingTV/DirectvNow and Netflix competitor, not just apple’s (likely) overly family friendly original content. As for the announcement, I don’t think they’ll have everyone show up for a product that is not being released. Rumors are just rumors, apple doesn’t usually waste everyone’s time like that.

They’ve literally never done that with a new product... Ever

It's going to have to be really great to lure me away from Youtube TV.
Really? I was really disappointed by YT TV

I miss the days I got excited and proud on the brand when something new got delivered. All of the keynotes I’ve seen after 2012 were a snoozefest and even the Apple representatives didn’t seem convinced in their own offerings.

The iPad pro event last year was pretty exciting IMO, but if you don’t use an iPad I can get not being excited about it

do we know how this service will work?

specifically, will be it be free and/or available on macOS or will it require an apple tv?

I use an iPad and am in the market to buy a new one. Can’t convince myself paying € 800 for the new iPad Pro which is surely faster but relies on a phone os which doesn’t give me a compelling reason to upgrade. And besides that, the new iPads are to fragile for me.

Why do you lump YoutubeTV/SlingTV/DirectvNow and Netflix in the same category? I wouldn't consider Netflix a competitor to those at all. Netflix is ad-free and unscheduled. The others are just cable tv but over ip.

What you are saying is just otternonsense.

Lol how is it nonsense? Look at their News app, with the exception of UK and a handful of countries globally, it never made it anywhere. Apple Pay only spread to EU this year after 5 years or so. Apple Music is picking up at a glacial pace compared to Spotify.

How are we benefitting from these half baked services at all, when at the same time we pay WAY more for the same hardware? What is the value add for us to keep buying their stuff if all the "updates" we are getting are memojis and services we can't access?
