Not so much a street as a driveway on the Apple campus.

So how did that paparazzi guy who took the picture get inside? Are the general public allowed inside the campus?

I could understand your fears if they were walking the streets of Iraq, Is America now that dangerous?

Well what if he gets bombarded by Apple fans, or what if some Windows fanboys try to hurt him or something?

Interesting I suppose.. but what are they doing that for? I thought the point of leaving MacWorld was because they didn't want to have a strict schedule for product announcements. Isn't this just the same thing with a lot more companies involved?

Partly - it was just the time frame for MacWorld. It meant a lot of people would be working through the Christmas holidays to make preparations for the Keynote etc. Had MacWorld been in March, I don't think they'd have pulled out.

I think it'd be interesting to see how Steve would handle a keynote that's not being given to a self-selected but certifiably pro-Apple audience. You know, like to people at CES to whom "one more thing" is just another phrase.

I suspect for this reason he might not do it. Why subject himself to the unrestrained criticism of the masses at large?

Does he really want to have equal billing with someone like Ballmer? I don't see why he'd want to, assuming that he still believes that "the problem with Microsoft is that they have no taste. They have no taste and I don't mean that in a small way, I mean that in a big way."

Yeah, we get it. You don't like them. Surprise! I'm not sure if Steve will attend CES, but it seems to me that doing so would demonstrate a maturity and confidence in his company and products in a bold new way: alongside Ballmer and his company.

Steve Jobs can fight people with his mind so he doesn't need guards.

<<Queue Chuck Norris analogy here>> :D

Why would Apple attend CES? They're not big fans of talking about future products, and they definitely don't like people seeing what's in the pipe. Isn;t that the whole point of CES? Are they going to show up just so they can talk about products we see everyday at the Apple store? Or, are they going to use this to launch something new, I don't think CES is the place to do that. If they wanted to launch something new all they have to do is call a press release like they do with the iPods. CES isn't for Apple. Also another big part of CES is getting your stuff "out there" and building product awareness. I don't think Apple has any problem doing that, nor do they need to. Seems like a lot of money to spend when the people at CES are not Apple's target audience.

Given the TMZ photo today, I doubt Jobs would want to put himself in a position for all to question his health one more time if he doesn't gain weight between now and January 2010.

I'm glad he isn't barefoot in that pic.

Makes sense seeing as Apple is no longer a computer company and is now a Consumer Electronics company.

So how did that paparazzi guy who took the picture get inside? Are the general public allowed inside the campus?

There is a main driveway. Steve usually parks his car right across from the main entrance in the handicap spot. Have seen it multiple times when I was on campus as an employee.

It should be like a normal event and announce new products.

I think it would be cool if Apple went. But doesn't that kind of defeat the point of dropping out of these shows to not be forced on release times?

Guess we'll find out!
