As much as I think an Apple Car would be cool, it’s definitely not practical. I don’t see this happening. It actually reminds me of another Apple product….

Good luck apple, at that price point you're going to compete against the BMW, Mercedes, Lexus etc, and they have years ahead of you.

Meh, electric cars are a small part of the market and will remain that way for awhile due to our crap electrical infrastructure and lack of chargers where a good portion of society lives, an apartment. And I don't mean put four chargers and call it a day, you need dozens at least for a decent sized apartment community.
And more work places need some. The only businesses I've definitely seen them at is Giant Food

🙄 Tesla won't be the main competitor. VW is already set to overtake Tesla as the largest electric car maker in 2024. Others will soon surpass them too. Tesla had first-starter advantage but it's quickly being eaten up by vehicle manufacturers who have been in the automobile market for decades and have the ability to scale far better.

Largely the reason people went with Tesla for so long was because it was pretty much the only option. Now there are numerous options and we're seeing their market share quickly falling.

Tesla still uses low-quality materials in their vehicles (stuff you wouldn't find in a $50k vehicle much less a $100k vehicle), the build quality is complete crap you'd never see even in the cheapest of vehicles, and the paint is worse than any other auto maker out there.

Definitely for the Luxury market. I do not see Apple focusing on mainstream. It all depends on how it is marketed. If this is for transport only then driving, then $100,000 is nothing. This would be sent as a taxi services as well as to Uber.

With Tesla, Porshe and Lucid currently occupying the Luxury market, Apple will not have any advantage. Plus, with Tesla vehicles ranging from $46,000 to $165,000 there no competition.

Say what you want about the price, but this thing is going to have – trusting Apple – a multitude of smaller features that are of the "of course! (why hasn't anyone designed that feature this way before)" type.

I can't wait.

Even if I can't afford one (initially?), the knock-on / disruptive effects this product will have on the industry as a whole will improve travel for a great many people, myself included.

Under $100,000 well that will appeal to a broad demographic, NOT.
By the tine Apple releases this car the Chinese will dominate the market and the cost of BEV's will have fallen. The Tesla model for building a BEV company has come and almost is gone.

I’d buy an apple car in a heartbeat over a TESLA. And if the Lord let’s me get to 2026, I will.

Personally, I'd rather Apple keep licensing CarPlay to auto-manufactures and let them do the heavy work.

Sometimes it's not always better to do everything yourself. [Could Razer have designed a beast of laptop around MacOS. or an MSI desktop?] [Could Samsing have designed an insane iPhone with insane specs]

When Apple showed off the "Next Generation of CarPlay" coming late 2023, I thought that be it.

An Apple Car doesn't feel like the right direction. If Siri still can't understand me 1/2 the time, perhaps they should put their investment capital into developing better speech recognition tech. It's kind of shameful how much Siri has stalled over the past few years.

Frankly, instead of expanding into the automotive industry, it would make more sense if they created their own line of Homekit appliances like lights, plugs, home theater speaker systems, door locks, etc. That feels more on-brand for me than a car. But I guess Apple does like to experiment and try new things. And that's kinda why they've made it to where they are today. So I dunno... I guess just keep on truckin', Apple.

For that amount I can get my own "self-driving" car by hiring a driver or ubering myself everywhere.

I can hire four to eight people to carry me to the mall in a palanquin like an ancient king.

That is why I think Apple is aiming more to be a car-service than a car-seller it has a big stake in a Chinese Uber competitor.
