Macbook Air -
Doesn't need a redesign. There's really nothing that it glaringly missing.

Macbook Pro -
Needs SSD in EVERY model even if it's only 64GB for the boot partition. Needs to jettison the optical drive and use the space for more battery and a 2.5" drive bay.

iMac -
Lose the optical drive which should allow the pricing to hit $999 for the entry level. Put the stereo speakers on the lower corners firing out instead of down at the desk. Make the stand height adjustable.

iPad-
Really doesn't need a significant update other than making it lighter if possible. I don't want it getting any thinner as the iPad 2 is about perfect for thickness. Improve the camera please and stereo speakers if you so please Apple.

Super excited. 2012 is going to be an exciting year.

Now that's what I'm talking about.

Seeing that it's the end of the world, why not?

There will be at least one iMac model with no hard drive (SSD) and no optical. It will be incredibly thin.

Looking forward to see what the rumored next iMac would look like.
drop the optical drive, make a blue-ray SuperDrive and give me +1 port on the back for it.
then spec bump and a system ssd.

Technical changes I hope are made:

iMac -
Kill the optical drive, add desktop GPU's

MBA -
15" model

MBP -
Kill the optical drive, add discrete GPU to 13", SSD's across the line

MacBook Pro will see a redesign. This will include a really high-res screen, no optical drive, full SSD and be a lot thinner.

I really hope they don't pop a redesigned iPhone that will make me want to get it. I got my iPhone 4S (went from a 3GS (I seem to be on this S binge)) the day it came out and I don't want to have to look at it and cry.

Though they will release the redesigned iPhone... and I'll end up getting the 5S. Just miss being on the front line I guess (have a Gen 1 iPhone and felt awesome pulling that one out in places). /endCrying

Won't buy another iPad (I think/hope) until it has a retina display. Unless, well the next iPad is freakin' amazing without the display, but I doubt that it will. Every time I use my iPad after using my phone I just groan, because the screen is so bad compared to the retina display. =\

My opinion, which never means much, is the one lacking feature in the MBA is 3G/4G broadband.

I'll buy an Air before an iPad, but I want that connectivity when I'm on my boat, at the beach, on the train, etc.

After the billions in patents Apple bought up, I expect the "product line" to be updated with all 4G connectivity. Why not right? Get it out on the Air before introducing it on the iPhone? Or for that matter the iPad first.

Let's hope so.

I can see the Macbook pro losing the CD drive entirely. Hopefully they will do a air type placement with the logic board (ports on both sides). It would have the same SSD option as the air along with a regular HDD space. Cut the thickness by a quarter inch and plop in a HUGE battery. Down a quarter of the weight, space for good parts. life would be good. Lol I just realized that I am asking for a macbook air that is a little thicker with better battery and a second HDD... With a decent amount of power of course. And everything needs retina (2x resolution) displays. EVERYTHING

If they can do that it would be epic.:eek:

Epic ?

A move like this will delight Microsoft. Dell, Lenovo, et al.

This will also cause many true Apple enthusiasts to abandon the platform if their highly prized MBP, Mac Pro & others are ditched.

While many will go on and on about how Apple won't miss them, there may be a surprise in store. Nothing reigns supreme forever.

And yet that said I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if this does come true. Apple is not immune to a bone head move. Their current iToys customers won't even know the difference. iToys will keep Apple fat & happy.

Already the apologists and those who can rationalize any Apple move, are hard at work to cover for Apple :)

In light of the rumors that Apple will eliminate the Mac Pro, I'm not looking forward to a "completely overhauled" iMac at all. I think there's a good chance we'll get a higher end iMac to compensate for the loss of the Mac Pro, but it still won't be a workstation.

Intel has already stated that their average target TDP will drop from 35-45 (what the current MBP's use) to 10-20 (current MBA's) when Haswell rolls around in 2013. You will no longer equate thin with weak.

I say the Pros stay as they are with the 13" going away and we get a 15" Air. Trying to shove the components of a 15" Pro into an air isn't going to be very good with poor battery life. The two will remain separate.

In other news, thousands of protesters in California shut down the port of Oakland....

The only problem with trying to kill the 13" Pro is that it's one of the better sellers in the lineup and with Ivy Bridge Apple will finally be able to deliver a quad core 13" which will give separation between the 13" Air and Pro.

As well as the possibility of a discrete GPU with the removal of the optical drive.

I'm looking for an upgraded iMac specifically.
- Ivy Bridge Processors
- An actual desktop GPU powerful enough to handle AE in realtime
- RAM is fine where it's at, 16GB is more than enough.
- Maybe make the bezel of the screen smaller giving about 2" diagonally
- Drop optical drive and the highest end iMac coming standard with a 128GB
SSD for OS and optional applications
- It would also be nice to have a 4TB option, but not necessary
--- I believe these are all possible things and will sell my current 27" Quad iMac to purchase on of these babies.

Macbook Pro
- I don't really care because all my editing is done at home and I personally don't need an internal or external upgrade, but would be cool either way.

MacBook Air
- If there were to be a 15" MacBook air with a 4G option, I might just sell my iPad 2 and white unibody MacBook to help purchase one of these. I would love the screen size plus the enjoyment of carrying something extremely lightweight.

iPhone
- This will be upgraded for sure and I'll be selling my 4S to help fund it.

Overall I'm excited to see what 2012 brings to the table!

I don't care about the iMac.

What's needed is a new, strong performing Mac Pro and the next generation MacBook Pro.

Nice

Im really looking forward for this.

All new Designs :)

Hopefully they will kill the Optical Drive in the imacs and make an better Cooling System so they can add Desktop GPU.

Other than that, the Imac is fine. And im saying this having the first 27" that came out.
Oh and plz.. USB3.0

Tod

I don't see Apple adding any support for USB 3.0, they make a ton of money off Thunderbolt accessories and own (co-own) the IP to it with Intel. Adding 3.0 would cannibalize their investment in Thunderbolt.

As for SSDs, sure, they will probably be in more devices. Why not? Apple's not competing on price, and large SSDs aren't cheap.

As for discrete graphics for the MBPro and the iMac, they already have them.

A full Apple TV set (not the little box) would be interesting.
