Possibly:

Apple TV 8GB - $69 (original)
Apple TV 32GB - $99
Apple TV 64GB - $199
Apple TV 128GB - $299

The storage will be for used for apps/games. The extra storage will be to record tv shows on networks not currently sold in the iTunes store.

I can't see Apple starting the new TV at $199 as that's a very high entry price to the new platform.

but will it come in gold?

At this point we have heard this rumor so many times it's the boy who cried wolf. If they are right this time it's purely luck and not inside info.

So, just how does one clear old inventory, and spur new interest at the same time? $69. No luck. It's going to be killer from spec perspective. The real issue will be subscription pricing on the ATV App Store. Too much competition. It's not an iPhone. :apple:

Not the one I'm asking. :p

It would be nice if Apple could actually acknowledge there are places other than the USA with the new Apple TV and add more than the few token apps we've currently got. Hopefully adding an app store will be the answer to this question. :)

Amen Brother. Nothing like living next door to the Centre Of The Universe. In some ways we're treated like domestic market, and others, like China, trying to steal their intellectual property. All we want is full access and full choice, without having our pants pulled down over the price.

I like your pricing...the 199 price point is like getting an Ipod touch - but they may pull that 16G 64G 128G crap again.

It's about freaking time. The ATV needs an update on essentially every metric. I really REALLY hope the UI gets a complete overhaul as well. And PLEASE include an RF remote. My Amazon Fire TV Stick has spoiled me in that regard.

Fire Stick uses bluetooth, just FYI. But the point is the same, you don't need line of sight for an IR remote which is very nice.

For me, it meant I had to also get an updated universal remote that could also handle bluetooth since the one I had did not.

So is this on demand streaming? If not you pay 40 bucks on top of the already high monthly rate for net access? How is this a better deal than just paying the providers and getting hundreds of channels with the service?

Unless Apple are going to be competitive, I can see a 16GB ATV starting at $99. The Razer Forge TV ( with 16GB ) is supposed to start at $100 ( $150 with a controller ), and the Nvidia Shield microconsole at $150.

This news can't be! The buyers guide shows only days since the last ATV release...;)

Yes 4k is exactly what I'm looking for to properly fuel my 65' UHD TV. So far I was holding off to buy an Apple TV as it supports only HDTV.

Double check that your TV has HDMI 2.0

full 4K is possible over HDMI 1.4, but only at 24 frames per second, or 30 frames per second for 3,840x2,160
Since plenty of 720 and 1080 content is 60 frames a second, the graphic processor in this new Apple TV would need to scale and do frame rate conversion at the same time.
An A8 can probably drive 4K content (or 720/1080 with scaling) to HDMI 2.0, but scaling and frame rate conversion, the processing load is just too great.

Grr. I want this now. My ATV2 is flaking out and I'm getting more used to the Kindle Fire Stick. However it doesn't have one app I really need MLS LIve.

Sigh.

You should have sold your ATV2 for $200 on ebay. I sold mine on ebay a year ago. Grudgingly bought an ATV3 for $85. I wish ATV4 was released last year.

There is no need for storage for tv shows and movies because everything is streamed. Storage would be necessary for games.

I could see a $199 model with new features and ability to play games etc if they keep the $69 model around.

Mark Gurman from 9 to 5 Mac was on Mac Break Weekly also mentioned WWDC as the release date. His record with rumors is top notch.
