What delay?Separating iOS and iPadOS was a real mistake. It just seems to make iPadOS worse than iOS every year- this delay is just another example of that.

Not releasing at same time as iOS. It always suffers in one way or another. What delay?
Did they say it would release the same time as iOS?Not releasing at same time as iOS. It always suffers in one way or another.
That would be a fail, as is not releasing it on the date you were planning to.
Evidently, October is no longer in the Fall according to this thread. I see countless people saying they delayed it even though the only thing Apple said was "Fall" when listing the release date.Which date was that? Did Apple walk back a date?
Probably yes, though nobody here would know that answer for sure.so the new iPads will be announced in october?
This whole topic is speculation from Mark Gurman, nothing more.Did they say it would release the same time as iOS?
Seems people are deliberately pretending that it isn't normally scheduled for September at the same time as the iPhone release.

^^^ This.Ha, I don't think that's even an open. Apple was not satisfied with the results. That idea was shot down in Cupertino a long time ago.
My intake: Apple wants everyone to order new iPad equipment with M1 and M2 chips period 🙏
I was only being sarcastic because of the backlash the other week 😂 thanks thoughIt's not available. Not enough courage. Sure enough, Apple was not satisfied.

Apple Tested Stage Manager on iPads Without M1 Chip and Wasn't Satisfied
As more post-WWDC interviews with Apple's software engineering chief Craig Federighi surface, we continue to learn more about Apple's...www.macrumors.com
I was only being sarcastic because of the backlash the other week 😂 thanks thoughThey had it working on recent non-M1 iPad Pros with ample storage, but Apple said it wasn't responsive/fluid enough per online comments so they don't support it. Even the M1 based Air with base 64GB storage can't run stage manger, it needs at least 128 GB storage since it being used to also multiple apps to run at the same time.
I don't think it is related to bugs but instead to accommodate to new iPads launch, which is also expected mid-October. Perhaps to showcase some new features exclusive to M2 iPads...Interesting – every beta (on M1) has been rock solid for me.
It used to be a 18 months to 2 year cycle at the beginning. The forced yearly release is wearing thin
They are far different use cases.Separating iOS and iPadOS was a real mistake. It just seems to make iPadOS worse than iOS every year- this delay is just another example of that.
That's what I was thinking too. Not a super big deal since the new iPads aren't going to be out in September.Continuity!
Is it really delayed tho since new iPads will be introduced in Fall October's event?
It would make sense to release the new iPad OS with the launch of new iPads on the lineup.
Not surprised. It's hard to perfect Stage Manager from home.
You’re making an assumption that Apple had planned to release it the same time as iOS this year. Just cos they did in the past, doesn’t mean they’d planned it that way this year. Not releasing at same time as iOS. It always suffers in one way or another.
There’s some obstinate people who equate working from home as being lazy/slacking.Why would it matter where the programmers are located?
M1’s advantage over M1 is the presence of a ProRes encoder/decoder. This will matter for those using video editing software like Luma Fusion. If Apple adds an M2-exclusive feature, it’d probably be some sort of ProRes video related feature. Of course, taking video with an iPad is just weird.Lol I wish but I highly doubt it. If anything Apple is more likely to include some new M2-only features if iPad OS 16 is delayed to be announced alongside new iPads.
It’s actually a huge update. Just because people get fixated on Stage Manager doesn’t mean there’s nothing in there. The biggest challenge besides Stage Manager will be Matter support, which I consider the biggest and most desired feature of iPadOS since I’m a big home automation junkie. There’s a ton of testing that will have to happen with thousands of different home automation gadgets. Matter has been in the works for years and is finally nearing release. I’m betting this is actually a lot harder to implement. A completely revamped Home app goes with that. Being able to gain HomeKit support for thousands of devices that currently only work with Google Home and Alexa is big.How strange. It isn't even such a big update. Honestly, someone could have secretly installed iPadOS 16 on my iPad and I would not have noticed.
