There's tech being worked on that allows the camera to work behind the screen.. As for the speaker grill that can be integrated into the edge with little change in how you take a phone call.
Still would be difficult to take a picture with the rear-camera being in the bottom left corner rather than the top right, and taking a selfie with the front-facing camera in the bottom of the phone. Let's face it, it's impossible for that idea to work, as awesome as it sounds.

On the back?

That's where the button should be, anyhow. You could make a "glass front only" phone today if you did this. I'm quite surprised this didn't happen for the 6...

I'm all for a bigger screen display if it means cutting out the bezels, and being able to hold the phone ergonomically. The increase in screen size in iPhone 6 and 6S was okay, but the bezels meant a phone that's just not ergonomic. So unwieldy to use and hold, and the button placement sucks.

On a separate note, I'm all about 10 year anniversaries being special and whatnot, but if that's the only reason they waited a year, that's just... ridiculous.

Ah no home button, I remember another OS that didn't have a home button and let me tell you it was a pain in the ass to figure out how to get back to the home-screen. Needed to call someone to help me out in store because I just couldn't figure out and by the looks of it people around me couldn't do so either.

I would never buy a phone without a home, back and recent apps button. Heck, I would pay to have more not less buttons.

The next revolution are hopefully the foldable phones.

I was more referring to a truly bezelless phone, I agree the ergonomics of this concept are restricting.

That would ergonomically change the whole iPhone experience AND that just ain't going to happen.

If rumors of Apple trying to make an all glass enclosed iPhone are true, they could make the back of the phone a giant reader so that it reads your hand/palm print. No more having to place a certain finger at a certain spot on a certain side of the phone.

Just hold your phone normally and it gets unlocked.

That would be innovating.

I think something akin to an even deeper force press will act as the home button moving forward. The lack of headphone jack and a haptic feedback home button is a good start to training the user base for these radical shifts ahead.

Apple is working toward a simple slab. No buttons, no Lightning, wireless charging, all display. If it weren't for speaker and mic, there could be no holes at all. I just hope they don't make the same mistake they did with the Apple TV Siri Remote - you can hardly tell if you're holding it upside down or not.

I just had a thought, what if they kept the Home button physical and put it on the side of the phone?

Let's get to the real matter at hand.....is Safari going to be snappier?

Because if not......well, let's just assume that it will be.

More proof that Apple will have an iPhone similar to:

Now proof that they have touch-id IN display like in the new MacBook

Maybe someone here is smarter than me...but what in the hell is the purpose of having a screen like this that takes up the whole front of the phone? You're going to have the same unusable space you have now due to the earpiece/front camera. You can't realistically put anything there. Bezels have existed for a reason.

I guess the question now is whether we get the same screen sizes in a smaller physical body (no bezels), or a larger screen size with the same physical body size. I vote for smaller body. Been rocking the SE now for 2 month and absolutely love the size. I've managed to get used to a 4 inch screen. Granted I do carry two phones and have a 5.2 inch BB for other work, but surprisingly the SE does handle my daily needs.

There's just something to be said about a smaller more compact phone that is powerful, yet manageable in one hand.
