Fingers crossed for a massive improvement in MobileMe.

If Hotmail went IMAP, I'd switch back in a heartbeat.

in addition to what everyone has already written here... free navigation that rivals google nav would be nice.

As far as syncing goes, I'm confused. Doesn't iphone/ipad etc sync with google over the air?

that is also a perfect timeframe to release the new final cut studio right before NAB which is in April.

I agree.. Also everyone wants a new notification system and that would be nice but I really don't see them changing much just because there are so many non "technical" people who use the iPhone and are really used to it so why would they want to alienate those people.

Is nobody going to mention it? A better filesystem, please!

1) No their not, because it's too functional, and only important to some of us.

2) Not "sexy" for the egomaniacs.

3) Apple couldn't price it high enough to satisy their greed.

4) There's no way to make it shiny.

5) Would allow too much user control.

These "Media Events" get more boring & hyped each time.

Yet that said there are massive numbers of fanboys, zealots & narcissists to pack the venue with wide eyed awe and blathering praise.

Rumor has it when Steve Jobs no longer participates, the Bay Area will fracture & sink, disappearing into the Pacific Ocean.

A fitting tribute to Apple.

Why is everyone assuming that the iPad is getting iOS 5 at the same time as iPhone this time around ? Hope for the best but prepare for the worst guys.

i think the widgets should be interacive on the lock screen and a 5 finger pinch inwards on the home screen brings up the widgets just like dashboard (try it, see what the widgets do). Then 5 finger pinch out to make them go away.

That wud b sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

A five-finger gesture on the iPhone screen?

change the notification system.
Update your maps. Android gets a free map navigation program with 3D effects.
SMS and MMS ringtone is long overdue and my phone from 1999 can do this. WTF appple.

Don't mean to get too ahead myself but...

April: iOS5 preview/MobileMe revamp
June:iOS5 release for iPhone & iPod Touch/iPhone 5G
June/July: MacBook Air Revision w/SandyBridge & ThunderBolt!
September: :apple: TV 3G/iPod Touch 4G/iPad 3G/iOS 5 release for iPad

I was hoping for iOS 5 as well, but that new GarageBand is a winner for me. I might learn to play guitar without the traditional painful user interface.

I'm also excited for GarageBand - it might get me back into recording stuff :p

It might help you figure out how chords go well together, but from what I can tell, it won't teach you how to strum, make chords, etc. But I do think it will be a boon for amateur musicians. It would be cool if you could download more instrument packs like the Mac version...

That's so logical. You're using the mentioning of desire for a filesystem to demonstrate that Apple fans are not interested in said feature? You're just coming in with some assumptions and finding ways to support them...

Seems early. But I always like having more features on my iOS devices.

I was thinking they'd save iOS 5 and Mobile Me for WWDC, but I suppose that would take away from Lion. Would be nice for WWDC to actually go "Back to the Mac" with Lion though.
Er... developers have to test the new iOS prior to its public release, remember?
They are called betas. Does it ring a bell, no?

There are a couple of thoughts apart from other discussions:

1. Dashboard: Is dashboard coming? I say yes. Just the way, it is implemented in Mac OS X 10.7; the left most screen, its coming to iOS 5.0.

2. Is there UI redesign. iOS UI IS great. It's one of the most mature UI's present in mobile devices today. What I like to see is apple giving it a Mac OS X touch. The UI elements are similar, but the design isn't rich.
Let's look at the Popovers in both. In Mac OS X, they look GREAT; in iOS, they look BAD.

It's great that it looks simple but beautifying things in a way it doesn't make them complex is art and I think Apple can do that.

So I'm hoping for a much richer UI redesign and I think Apple can do it.

That's a good idea. From the home screen, swipe left to get access to weather, sports scores, etc. The search field can stay on top, but the keyboard doesn't appear until you tap the "Search iPhone" field. That would be a clean way to implement widgets that is consistent with Lion.

An event for just software eh? Is iOS 5 and MobileMe big enough to warrant that? Isn't that what WWDC is for?

Seems to me that we're in for something a little more if this is true. I'm talking about hardware. Something is brewing that we haven't seen yet. Why didn't they talk about iOS 5 at the iPad 2 and MobileMe media event if that's all this will be about?

I'd place a bet that AppleTV is getting a software update and that Apple will announce their plans for manufacturing televisions with integrated AppleTVs.

Lame, Apple is clearly focusing more on iOS devices and less on Mac OS, which I don't like.. Most people don't use an iPhone more then they do a PC.. I hardly use my iPod Touch in comparison.. I wonder if Apple will even have an event for OSX Lion. Even the Back to Mac event didn't showcase much about the next Operating System, they only covered about 7 minutes of features, the rest was iLife..

I'm hoping!

I actually expected a "one more thing..." bit in the end with a few teaser features from iOS 5.

But there was no "one more thing".

Even better, hotmail supports push like everyone else

I want access to my folders on my iPhone and iPad, Hotmail doesnt support this. I want my emails to appear as read accross all my devices when I do.

Eww yuck! Hotmail, really?

Whats so Yuck about it? Because it's Microsoft? I only use it because my '@live.co.uk' email is my iTunes account and my Live ID for Xbox Live. I cant change my Apple ID over to my @me. And there doesnt seem any point migrating my Live ID over to my @me if Im still going to need it.

Free 25GB Storage on Live Mail,
So far the junk filter on Live has been better than Me's filter.
Also supports Aliases.
Windows Live Office for quick edits online.

Honestly the only reasons I went with Apple from Live Mail, was to have my contacts, calenders and emails sync accross devices, and I prefer big faceless companies like Microsoft and Apple. And with Googles attitude recently, I sure as hell wouldnt go with Gmail out of principle.
