Just by observing how Samsung.com price matched to all the deals by the retailers. I wonder by this Apple is going to price match their products to the deal prices at Best Buy. But hey, Apple isn't known for discounts!

I'm not holding my breath for anything decent. I'm looking to get a MB for my wife since she needs one for work. But I will explore the third party vendors (ie. Best Buy, Amazon) since I'm sure they'll have better deals than Apple.

First, Apple has always had a BF "event" but as far as my memory serves me, it's been mostly "buy X for full price and we'll give you a $50 iTunes gift card". That's pretty much a joke. Even if it was a $100 store credit it's still not worth much because there's nothing in the store for under $100 unless you buy their highway-robbery priced accessories AND you have to buy Apple products (I'd rather have the real discount/cash please).

Second, Apple always sells at 100% full price. There is really no point at shopping in the Apple store...you're better off going to any of the retailers and maybe, just maybe, saving 10% a few times a year and at best on BF you will save maybe 20% on very select models of Apple products.

Best Buy, Target, and Walmart have already advertised their Apple BF sale prices over a week ago. Apple will not match those prices.

Bought an Xs Max last week and luckily my return window falls within this "shopping event". Would be nice to get a giftcard back after.

This isn't new. They always do these "sales" and it turns out to be a complete and utter dud. Basically comes out to 5-10% discount. I bought the new iPP 11" the other day with folio keyboard and pen. I wouldn't even bother going back to the store for the pittance they plan on giving out as it'll be a zoo.

Apple is basically known for NOT giving BF deals. This def indicates that they are struggling. Please spare a few $ for Timmy this Christmas season.

what? I'm pretty sure they ran similar promotions during BF in the past few years.
I bought a Time-capsule and got a $50 GC 4 years ago.

If you had read the article you’d know:
  • Apple is unlikely to offer much in the way of discounts this year
  • Apple has never offered any significant discounts in the past this time of year
  • Apple holds special shopping events every year around this time
  • There is no difference between this year and any other year

But that doesn't fit the narrative of Apple is struggling or the famed Apple is "Doomed".

So here's what I reckon - it would actually serve Apple a lot better to NOT hold a sale (I'm basing this on historical evidence). They already have a reputation for good products but at sky high prices and the world has just learned to accept that. However, promoting a Black Friday discount and getting everybody's hopes up only to find out the discount is an insult compared with everybody else's sales just fans the flames of discontent.

Maybe they will give the jack adapter with the 1600$ Xs Max ? :/

btw it's sad to see all the comment on apple news website...everybody is angry at them, i mean EVERYBODY !! Even the hardcore fan are laughing right now because that is ****ing expensive and google rolls out a free OTA update that kills every camera on the market with night shift mode... we are looking ridiculous right now

I hope it will be worthwhile this year, but I’m not holding out hope. I prefer to buy directly from Apple because of their 14 day return period. I’ve never had to use it, but it’s nice knowing it’s there just in case I don’t like a product for some reason. I’m getting a new computer once I graduate school next May. I’ll be eligible for a student discount, so I don’t know if any other retailers offer that, but they may have a better deal than the student discount.

I guess I just like having that security from Apple even if it means paying more. Maybe that’s flawed thinking lol

Apple is hurting like something we haven't seen since before the first iPods shipped out.

Tim, I hope you're polishing up your resume.

Sales have never been down like this. Not since the iPhone has existed. So yeah, you might be seeing something different this year.

I dont know. Everybody says that blackfriday deals have been ****** in the past and that they will continue to be a joke in the future.
I think Apple could use such a shopping event to maintain sales numbers in the iPhone section from now on by cutting prices for a limited period of time, considering iPhone is a mature product, where decline is almost inevitable.

Desperate Measures. Tim’s policy of overcharging for nothing better than average products is catching up with him. His time at Apple is almost over.

He needs to realise that people need reassuring that their love for Apple is reciprocated.

Cook’s only agenda was profit...time to think again Tim!

The problem is that it's the shareholder who decide who stay and who leaves... and if i was a shareholder, hitting 1 trillion in market, and having the biggest dividend ever would make me think twice about having the "love of apple fan hurt"... i would get in my lamborghini and feel a lot better about it.. so he stays a little longer i think

Apple is very greedy. I love their products and will keep buying them but my strategy to cope with the heavy inflated prices is just to keep my current devices longer and longer.
Not a smart move from Apple’s end.

Just few examples. My son is in middle school and I was originally planning to get him a new Mac. The new Mac Mini was perfect until I saw the ridiculous price. I end up giving him my 2015 MBP and bought a third price monitor and keyboard. Apple lost a sale.
All my family iPhones are up to an update. I decided to give them and extra year and wait for BOGO deals from my carrier. Another sales lost.
The HomePod is something I was wondering but not willing to pay for a product that is at least $150 more than it should cost.

So there it is. Come on Tim get out of your bubble.

Lol they’re struggling with selling those $1500 iPhones lolllllllll

When "struggle" means selling lots of millions of devices that go as high as the prices you have mentioned, tells a lot about the company. Who wouldn't love that kind of "struggle"
MacRumors comunny experts hard at work again!!

We still have some Black Friday sales in Germany, they're just not necessarily called Black "Friday
They are not called Black Friday because someone registered it as a trademark in Germany, and someone who didn’t knew it was a ‘worldwide event’ has approved it. It will get knocked out at some point, but until then they go after anyone who uses that term.

I don’t even know if the company sells anything or if they just make money if their trademark.
