rumors

Dear MacRumors
You cannot 'confirm' a rumor with a rumor. Only Apple can 'confirm' if a rumor is true or not. The Wall Street Journal or Bloomberg can only confirm the date if they have a direct acknowledgment from Apple. However, if you check your links, you will see that WSJ and Bloomberg are only citing rumors, not official confirmation. In fact, they state their info is "according to a person familiar with the matter." That 'person' may actually be you (MacRumors). So you may have MacRumors citing rumors based on MacRumors as confirmation of their rumor. Please correct your announcement. Thank you.

confirmed:

next beta of ios 8 will have its clock function removed, so that there won't be a conflict of interest between iphone and iwatch. that way they won't eat into each others profits.

little birdie

I must have missed the watch straps that take an iPhone in the apple store.....

A phone or a watch, so so so similar in functionality ...... Which to choose??

So is apple going to pull all the clock apps from the iTunes Store ?

Common sense. And school of life having owned a watch and a phone.

I'm 99% sure I'm going with 4.7". But what I don't want to happen is the 4.7" gets announced in sept. with no mention of the 5.5". I would not be happy camping out for the 4.7" not knowing anything about the 5.5.

"double down on secrecy" method: let it slide

Worst leak ever, the new iPhones looks like the Samsung Galaxy with the power button at the right, too bad.

Sure. There have been no identifiable leaked parts for a 5.5" iPhone.

Okay, I would still like the proof I requested, as lack of leaks isn't proof of anything. Are you very adamant that the iWatch doesn't exist? How about the 4K iMac? 12" retina MacBook Air? Next Apple TV update? The only way for you to know that one doesn't exist is for you to have inside information at this point. And frankly, I'm more inclined to trust WSJ and others who are reporting a 5.5" iPhone 6, as they have offered more proof than you have.

that past couple have been in september. June and July "were" a thing, but im willing to bet money that September is going to be a more permenanet month for iPhones. 6S will be in September too!

I agree, but you can't really say "like always" when it's far from always, throughout history.

Introducing iPhone 6

Can't wait to hear Jony Ive in the promo video talk about how he "rethought how a phone should work".

You know you said that in your Jony Ive voice.

"Here at Apple, we truly believe that harmony between hardware and software is the key to a great user experience. With iOS 8 and it's Continuity features, iPhone works seamlessly with the Mac and iPad, yet there is still a missing element. Harmony between the different hardware devices is equally important, so we took the design of iPad and directly translated it to iPhone as well. To create iPhone 6, we began with studies years ago about what the best display size is, and after long thought and consideration, we decided that just one size does not fit all consumers. For the first time ever, we are introducing two new display sizes for the iPhone; 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches. We truly believe that these are the best sizes for iPhone. With the new, larger Retina Displays and the A8 chip on iPhone 6, you have a mobile powerhouse with you wherever you go. We truly believe that this is the best approach to increasing the display size in iPhone."

my bank account is ready!

Mine isn't, but I'm going to see what I can do as I want to get the 6 as soon as I can afford to. I gave up my 5S to try the S5 and am now back on an old 5 and missing the extra size. The size was perfect so I'm most likely going with 4.7, but waiting to see if the 5.5 is real, and if the rumours of different specs are true before making a firm decision.

The S5 was a nice phone, the screen was fantastic and a good size for me. Android has come a long way too so I'm not going to bag it anymore, but Touchwiz ruined my experience, as well as having to micro manage things to keep the phone running smoothly. iOS just works, you don't have to micro manage every day, and I've never had any issues with it performance wise.

4.7 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 models compared to iPhone 5s[/i][/center]Apple's iPhone 6 launch event will see the debut of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6, which is expected to include a thinner, lighter chassis with an iPod-touch style design along with an A8 processor and an improved camera.

Given that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will look similar to an iPod touch, is it reasonable to assume Apple will also be announcing the iPod touch 6th Gen?

UPDATE
Woohoo! So according to this rumor site, the new iPod touch will be announced along with the new iPads a month after the iPhone unveiling.

Kinda funny how in 2011 people were reporting about a "larger iPhone 5 with tapered design." Case companies even released cases for it... and in October 2011 all we got was the iPhone 4S. Oh... and there were tons of leaked parts for the 4S and ZILCH for the "tapered iPhone 5."

hey umm... any chance on seeing the rumored 12 inch retina macbook on this event?

A Sept. 19th release...Dang. I got the iPhone 5 the day of launch, so my AT&T upgrade isn't until till the 22nd. Anyone know AT&Ts policy ?

As long as you are within the calendar month you can upgrade on the 2 yr contract as normal. You will not have to wait until the 22nd...

1. There has not been a fully iPhone 6 genuine leak yet. Most were mock ups.
2. This is not the worst leak ever. The iPhone 4 was.
3. Get your eyes checked. iPhone 6 looks nothing like the Galaxy.

This is probably as much as we are going to know about the event up until the invites go out
Everything else is pure rumor and speculation

Love it well done......
However we have this to get around also

There has to be some trick that does not mean this previous video it not rubbished?
Perhaps a keyboard that scales to one side?

Late to the thread, but...

I'm still rocking a chipped tooth 4S. So I'm more than ready to upgrade.
That said, I'm uncharacteristically underwhelmed by rumors we've all read to date. While larger screens are... well... larger screens, I'm not (yet) getting that sense that Apple (or the industry, for that matter) is pushing boundaries in the hand held segment. Reserving full judgment until we know the full story.

Just more 'meh' than I typically am heading into a personal upgrade cycle.

The only way Apple could screw this larger iPhone release up is if they give us a crappy non-retina screen and wait until the S-model to start the retina stuff. And as Apple goes, that's not too farfetched. Unlikely, but not unheard of. Apple can be *******s like that.

Barring any ******* moves by Apple, looks like I might be one of those people standing outside in line waiting to pick up the new iPhone!

Agreed with this. I just want the info of what the choices will be up front.
