Why is it that you are even on these forums? Just about every post I have read of yours has been negative and not at all helpful to a discussion. Maybe you should consider going to another site. Honestly, some of us are just tired of your comments and trolling.

Quite amusing that by virtue of your whining about someone else being negative and unhelpful to the discussion, you are doing THE EXACT SAME THING! You don't see me going out of my way to attack other users who have nothing to do with the forum topic, and you certainly don't see me play-acting a self-appointed forum spokesperson making unsubstantiated claims about how anyone feels about anyone else.

maps!

"We have still a lot to cover" Apple admits they have still a lot to do around Apple maps covering :) right guys?

I believe that they have only streamed the September 2012, October 2012, and WWDC '13 events.

Apple provided LIVE stream coverage of the events online for many years...in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and then just *stopped* doing this and only providing videos of the event posted an hour or two later on their website -- no livestream. Apple used to stream them LIVE so anybody could watch via QuickTime TV. They don't do this anymore. They haven't done it for years.

Miss those days. Being on the east coast I would take a late lunch just to watch the keynotes. Wish they would bring those back.

Never used by anyone? Source please?

Google it if you want sources. Since when does Mac rumors require citation to make a post.

The uptake on FaceTime has not been as Apple wanted. It is proprietry and requires two to tango. So unless everyone has it, one simply uses skype.

An example of an article:

http://forums.appleinsider.com/t/15...fight-over-standards-to-rival-apples-facetime

Apple's Steve Jobs first introduced FaceTime video conferencing in June 2010 at the company's Worldwide Developer Conference as a key new feature of iPhone 4, noting at the time that Apple intended to release the technology as an open specification that other mobile vendors could license to create compatible video conferencing clients.

The company subsequently added FaceTime support to its new camera-bearing iPod touch released that September, announced that FaceTime was coming to the Mac in October (delivering it in February) and brought FaceTime to the new iPad 2 the next spring. FaceTime became so central to Apple's marketing that the company even began calling its iOS and Mac webcams "FaceTime cameras."

Now two years old, Apple's FaceTime feature has never become an openly published standard as Jobs promised it would be. While the technology is based upon a series of open standards, interoperability with third party implementations is not currently possible, for reasons described below.

a) Macrumors might not require citations but people with some decent background usually enjoy to use citations to back statements.
b) Not far from you, in Sydney CBD, working for a large financial institution, facetime is the default video conferencing system. Now, with FT audio, we use it even more.
c) Every member of my family has iOS. I use it with then on a daily basis.
d) Around 80% of my friends use iOS. Again, iMessage and FT is the default com system.
e) FT cannot be compared to skype. Skype does not run well in the background, you need to ask people for an ID (FT works out of the box), drains battery... If anything, Id use viber for those not in IOS.

And so on....

No they didn't

Apple has been really nit-picky and restrictive LATELY about streaming their events....WHY APPLE? You used to do this all the time for the general public via online stream...and now NOTHING??? Really, Apple? Shows lack of care for their customers and fan base.

Apple never streamed live on a consistent basis. Maybe for a year or two, and that's it. Otherwise it has been live blogs and general when they feel like it.

Now I like THIS color pallet in the above graphic... should have those colors in iOS7.

----------

I'm too busy at work to REALLY watch these events live anyways. I'd rather wait until later that night, relax, put on my headphones and get into it

That might be true in "Apple-County" like the US.. but in most countries in the world the OS landscape is far more diverse (which is a good thing), so proprietary stuff like FT isn't a good choice.

They could make it an open standard but I guess that won't happen.

This will probably be streamed since it's not taking place in the own Town Hall.

They have streamed the last couple of events live with the exception of the ones taking place in Cupertino.

You mean the one they were supposedly going to make an open standard?

Apple being sued by VirnetX is probably not helping in making FaceTime an open standard.

None of that supports any argument that FaceTime is popular? I appreciate you and your family and friends use it, but it has still had minimal uptake. Its big issue (as is the case with me) is that many users other than you and I use Windows as we all know so unless you are part of an Apple fanatic family/group it just doesn't quite work.

Also I never said it was an inferior product or that Skype was good. In fact I agree with you that FaceTime is probably the best there is IF you can get the relevant person you want to call to use the app.

Anyway, stay cool and happy FaceTiming.

P.S.The 'decent background' comment is a bit silly. You have know idea who I am.

Hope they bring the "one more thing" back as a homage to Steve. Their recent keynotes have definitely lacked a little something.

I think Apple has retired that in deference to Steve Jobs. My sense is Apple feels that would be like trying to imitate him. They have to keep having events and these events are very much shaped by Steve Jobs but the "one more thing" was too specific to him.

In my particular case, I live in Apple County (australia) and so does my family (UK). So for me it works.

For those that doesn't work, they can use alternatives

I totaly agree on that!

Thats why they should be creative and instead use "Two more things"

1 - rMBP 12 hours battery, TB2 etc
2 - 4K Display

ehm? isn't this big for you?...
what else do you want? a company like sony that makes everything but bad done?

he said something "big and unexpected". something big and unexpected would be an iWatch or brand new Apple TV. everything I listed are great updates, but they're what's expected.

redesigned iMac was big. Mac Pro unveiling was big. iOS 7 was big.

I'm definitely getting a new iPad because it's gonna be amazing, but it's not "big and unexpected."

hoping for that, but wouldn't be surprised if they save it for next year :(
