Apple to Hold Simultaneous Satellite Event in London for October iPad Unveilings

Sorry if this has been already asked, but do they often have simultaneous events like this during big events, or is it only when a new launch has some local impact (such as the iPhone 5C launch, in China). Just wondering if the London (and Japan) events have any relevance.

Nexus user by any chance?

Not necessarily - plenty of trolls roaming the halls of this forum have Apple products sticking out of their pockets, in fact the ones who own Apple products are quite often the absolute worst kind of troll.

Why do they need a big huge event for a lame iPad iteration that did nothing but bump up the processor and get rid of the useful side bezels?

Is that not exactly what samsung did with the gs4? A huge (and quite bizarre) media spectacle for a spec bump and a new bezel...

1st post so please don’t shoot me UNTIL I make a stupid statement!

If I remember correctly the design of the new Mac Pro to be assembled in the US had very few leaks if any at all.

Maybe we will see something similar with the so called iWatch or Apple TV related i.e. we have designed it but its not yet in mass production for the leaks to appear.

Shoot now?

I believe that they have only streamed the September 2012, October 2012, and WWDC '13 events.

But only to Apple devices.

Imagine if Microsoft only streamed to Windows devices, or if Sony only streamed to Sony devices.

Instead, they don't. In fact, their E3 press conferences are aired on TV and available from official streams or dozens of websites hosting their own streams.

How is it that one of the richest companies in the world can't afford to stream their events?

Apple never streamed live on a consistent basis. Maybe for a year or two, and that's it. Otherwise it has been live blogs and general when they feel like it.

You are not understanding -- this was the era BEFORE WiFi and Live Blogs, before they did any of this...I am talking about back when Macworld was around....Apple streamed many of their Macworld keynotes online from about 1996 - 2002. Most of the MacRumors posters probably cannot remember that, or were not using Macs back then. Apple consistently streamed their keynotes for awhile before all of these "exclusive" Yerba Buena and Apple Campus media events that only allowed press into the event with WiFi blogging....pretty much all of the major Macworld keynotes were streamed up until about 2005....when Apple withdrew from Macworld. Then the live streaming stopped.

Doesn't it work with QuickTime on Windows? The non-live streams do.

And HLS is supported by many apps. VLC is one example.

And they have started streaming them again when they aren't taking place in Cupertino.

NONE of the Yerba Buena Center events have been live streamed...all of their latest media events there have NOT, and that is in San Francisco, not Cupertino. The last events streamed *LIVE* were the Macworld events.

iPad Mini 2 only; no Retina!

From the latest on rumors of the iPad Mini - the 2013 iPad Mini 2 is only going to get a minor refresh - an upgraded A5X. No Retina version until 2014!

----------

Satellite?

Why don't they use their "never used by anyone" FaceTime.

Apple needs to use it own technology to broadcast on the 22nd!

Various color iPad Minis

Something new with the smart cover (a lot to cover) besides wake/sleep. Maybe a keyboard.

It's clearly a big event. They are having it at the convention center. The iPhone 5c/s launch was an on-campus event. Small. Intimate.

Please give a source for this rumor. I can't find anything on web stating anything close to this.

"we still have a lot to cover" I think will mean new smart covers (They might see a redesign with a new iPad) or smart cases for the iPad mini. Also leather cases for iPod touches like the 5/5s case that already exists.

The picture on the invitation a possible new rainbow colored apple logo that combines the classic logo (because of the colorfulness) and iOS 7.

I also hope that since there is still iOS 7 themed invitations that there will be a complete apple website and OS X redesign making it look more like iOS 7 since both look really old right now.

That's not true. The iPad event last year was streamed:

The WWDC 2013 keynote was streamed:

Obviously, you do not travel. I use it every time I am away on business.

Concur. EVERY time I travel.

Plus, now that kids are becoming iOS-savvy, I get random FaceTime requests throughout the day. Just to share a good test score, or to lament their latest boo-boo.

FaceTime's awesome. I'm all in on this kind of stuff. I should be in their commercials.
