My wish list -

1) Resolution independent UI / High DPI support - it is painful to use OSX on high resolution displays - Windows makes it very easy to increase DPI and it works well enough in practice for DPI aware and DPI unaware apps alike.

2) TRIM support for SSDs - 1st party and 3rd party ones

3) Fix the multi-file copy for Finder - give me a freaking option to continue copy even if one or more files cannot be copied due to permission or case sensitivity issues. I have been burnt by this more than once and it is just ridiculous that Finder totally aborts the copy even if one file fails to copy.

4) I know this is not an OSX thing per se but since Apple ships bootcamp with OSX releases - Better GPU support for Windows - including the ability to use iGPU, better power management and better suspend/resume stability

5) ZFS Everywhere - Boot volume and non-boot ones

6) AES-NI support

7) More UI Unification - Bring on Marble with a New Mouse Cursor!

8) Lesser Beach Balling - it's bearable now, but eliminating it would do wonders
I'd be glad to see ZFS too. But #1 on my wishlist is still window resizing from all corners and sides.

Ah what timing. The 12" PowerBook G4 is seriously on its last leg. (Didn't help that it fell out of the bag onto the pavement either haha)

C'mon Apple, you know you have to use the name Cougar eventually...

HAHAH, I love this one "Welcome to the Mac 10.x.x Cougar...."

Awesomeness! 10.7 will be interesting to see and hear about. I have a few requests. But I have a feeling trim support will finally show up.

10.8

Perhaps 10.8 would be Domestic Short Hair - then as an interim update to 10.8.5, Domestic Long Hair. :p

I don't see them going with Liger - being a half-breed and all - might be just as much of a marketing faux pas as Cougar. I was cringing when I first heard "iPad," though - made me think of MaxiPads... then there was a case designed for the iPad that looked like such a product... but Apple carried it off - iPad is just part of the pop culture lingo now.

I think the switch to Constellations is a *stellar* idea - ... w/ the exception of Cancer. I could see "Orion" and then maybe a spin on Spotlight called "The Big Dipper." :)

Maybe they could spend a little cash w/ Paramount and name them after Starfleet Captains:

Kirk (with new voice over named Spock)
Picard (new voice over named Data)
Sisco (Odo)
Janeway (Tuvok)
Archer (yada yada)

If they stick with animals for XI - I'm thinking birds of prey might be a good way to go.

Seriously though - they could name the new OS after doodle bugs and I'd still be in line to get it if they wow us with features as they have in the past.

One poster suggested "Back to My Mac" per the new data facility - sounds like they might be dead-on. It would be great for Apple to be the defacto standard for online backup. I would not be thrilled, however, to see their apps like iLife or iWork go to the cloud. It's great in theory, but what if you're working on a project on an 8 hour flight w/ no internet?

BluRay support and USB3 on all new Macs - pullease... maybe some microUSB3 port for the MBA? Ugh! I can barely wait. :apple::D:apple:

I'm still waiting for 10.8 Sex Panther.

Also, we will probably see a MBA update here if its going to be updated and not EOL'd.

Addicted

Since the iPad came out this year, I found myself addicted to keynotes like they were TV shows, and having a fix every few months is not enough. It seems like I need them every week.

Anyone feel the same?

All this excitement is going to turn into bitching next week. It's a MR's tradition.

Its the normal result:

Powerusers: Upset that once again OSX/Hardware falls short.

Fanboys: Will love it no matter what

Haters: Gona hate

The rest: Will give there opinions about it and be labeled Haters/Fanboys.

AWESOME news!!!

BTW, since 10.7 is Lion, I think this might be the last cat. I doubt they would code name the next major Mac OS a lesser cat.

Perhaps this means OS XI (11) would be next in line (~2012).
If this is true, what code names will this OS be themed after? Dogs? ...Please, NO!!!

Anyway it will be definetely the last of the series and XI or 11 will be the next step based on Lion in 2012.

Already has been speculated that Lion will be a major upgrade. Windows to follow?

The main reason we all get so worked up about them is its because they are few and far between. Be boring as baseball if we had one every week.

Same happened to me! I had a MacBook since 2008, I was just happy and I didn't even know about the keynotes. Also made me join MacRumors :)
