Here's to my wishful thinking that there will be a one more thing

And it goes like this

Steve Jobs: And one more thing...
[crowd craps their pants]
*graphic on screen shows two darkened logos*
Steve Jobs: I'm sure you've heard by now that Apple is expanding their iPhone service to new carriers...
[crowd proceeds to further soil their pants]
Steve Jobs: We will start rolling out the iPhone 4 to Verizon early in the first quarter of 2011
*Verizon logo becomes clear and colored*
[crowd goes crazy]
Steve Jobs: ... and, early next year too we expect to introduce the iPhone to Sprint customers as well
[I crap my pants]

my wish list

I really want proper cloud based user (and maybe Application?) folders. I work from 2 or 3 different Macs and never have the right file in the right place.

I want a MobileMe thats syncs itunes/iphoto/docs as well as bookmarks and contacts. It could be tied into a time capsule type device so to not to clog up the internet whilst at home, but still accessible via the web when on the road. That way Apple could start selling macs with 16GB of Flash memory (for the OS, Apps etc) whilst the actual data was held on your router/NAS type device.

Imagine how slim your iMac/MacBook/Mac Mini would be without a hard disk. Also has speed and power saving benefits.

I can also see the optical drive being made redundant. I never use mine anymore.

iWeb wise, I think unless this has some CMS features it will never be a success in the feature.

iTunes is too big. Time to bring back iSync for iPads/iPods (or incorporate into cloud as above)

iChat and FaceTime to integrate. (Also, IChat needs to be MSN/FaceBook/Skype compatible)

I'm not worried that Apple won't put Blu-ray drives in the notebooks. I'm more worried about them taking the DVD drives out of the computers because of Steve's vision of digital content is the future and disk drives will be unnecessary. Steve, your right but thats not on the horizon. I do buy music and movies off iTunes and i buy CD in CD stores as well because some are cheaper to buy there than on iTunes. Please keep it Apple, i have CD's that stack up to the ceiling and i want to jump to mac. This is your chance the make me jump over the fence.

Aside from all the pants-crapping, that sounds pretty cool!

Wait, are you saying you don't want that or am I reading your sentence wrong.

I would love an App Store on the mac, it would make finding apps easier and fun.

No, you read my sentence all right. I can live with a locked up smartphone, but I want my computer to be as open as possible. Apple already has a software section on their site and there's also an app called Bodega out there. Finding apps is easy and fun enough as it is.

Neither of those are built into the OS.

An App Store that made installing/uninstalling and updating as seamless as iOS would be quite handy. It wouldn't make your computer any less "open," as you could still download the usual way.

Even if they do take out the optical drive, you can always get an external one.

You're missing the point. You're giving up performance and ports, or paying a lot for the performance you get, and getting a machine that isn't that much smaller. Yes it's lighter but it's the same foot print and only 0.25" less than a MBP 13". It's form over function, it's a pointless tradeoff for something that gives the illusion of being smaller with its daft tapering. Hopefully Apple will correct this with the 11.6" form factor.

I guess you know what I need better than I do. :p

By the way, the last thing I want is an 11" screen. I've tried them before, and getting any work done on them is like wearing shoes that are two sizes two small.

This event will have zero to do with the iPhone.

One More Thing is gonna be Mac-related, namely, iChat integrated with FaceTime will finally get PC support.

Yep, obviously I do. I actually have an argument to back what I say rather than just an empty opinion.

Speaking of empty opinions, why would an 11.6" screen, which is a little over 10% smaller in pixel size, be so difficult to read compared to a 13.3" model? I and other people who have owned the 12" PB, which was similar in pixel size, loved it and found it very usable.

The 11.6" model, if it comes and doesn't have the stupid taper, will finally delivery on the promise of the MBA and is what Apple should have released in the first place.

You miss the point. He knows what he needs, and you obviously can't, yet you continue to try to speak for the needs of everyone.

Personally, I don't need a MacBook Air at 13" or 11". I have trouble not having enough capabilities with my Aluminum MacBook, and probably would use a significant portion of the capabilities of a 17" MacBook Pro. That said, I see the market for the current MacBook Air, for an upgraded (but similarly priced and spec'ed, relatively), and wouldn't belittle anyone who stated their opinion on what they need in a computer like that (just don't ask for a MBP in a MBA case).

Ah, no, you're missing the point. Did you even read my reply? I'll spell it out for you: The MBA is a trade off where you lose ports and performance but gain very little portability in return. You get something that looks smaller, has somewhat smaller volume and weight but is still 75% the thickness of a MBP and with exactly the same footprint. Nowhere have I talked about what is good for him or good for me. Meanwhile you're doing exactly what you accuse me of and stating your preference for one machine or the other, as if it is some sort of gospel, which is totally irrelevant. Anyone knows that one person is going to prefer one machine over another for their specific requirements. What you or I like has no impact on what anyone else likes. But someone looking for portability is going to lose out by buying a MBA. And if you're not looking for portability why would you give up those features? Because it looks nice? That's what the MBA offers, form over function. Simple really.

They'll also release the MacBook AircraftCarrier :p

I think most MBA apologists on this forum would wax lyrical about what a brilliant machine that was, until they realised it was a joke... a few hours later.

I'm excited about Wed too. Bring on the 11.6" (but less that 11.6" thick)!
