sorry but I have to chime in here. I've read many of your comments and have personally dealt with you and your attitude towards others on macrumors is essentially condescending, rude and inflammatory. So no, it's not about others needing to "grow thicker skin"(s), it's about certain individuals needing to grow up and learn respect and common decency. It's certainly nice hiding behind your computer and using the anonymity of the Internet to degrade others, yet something tells me without that luxury you wouldn't be so brazen.

Respect and decency, virtues you need to learn. :)

The way I post here is the way I act in real life. Again, I am a direct person. I call 'em like I sees 'em. I don't tip toe around issues. Internet or anonymity have nothing to do with it.

Decency and respect though would have made you send this via PM to all concerned instead of polluting the thread with comments that are not on-topic or discussing topicality. Perhaps I am not the only one in need of "learning virtues".

This onstage event needs to have a hardware focus along side 10.7, if not it will just be another event with focus heavily on software. yet again.

Yet again? The only new Mac software we've gotten this year has been Safari and iTunes, and they're for Windows too. Hardware has seen updates across the board.

This is going to be a software event. The invite graphic makes that pretty clear. iLife, OS X, iWork. If we are lucky, maybe a MBA upgrade. But don't get your hopes up for anything else.

Right I'm a troll. Keep trying.

You'll notice I didn't call you a troll, I said I was ignoring your trolling. That's like the difference between saying something stupid (happens to everyone) and being stupid (which only applies to a small group of people).

You were, in fact, trolling, with this comment:
So it doesn't bother you that Apple charges 2x what other manufacturers charge for the components? The only difference being the Aluminum case and OS?

It was solely for the purpose of generating a negative response from the person or persons it was directed at. That is basically the exact definition of trolling.

Try harder next time yourself, stick to facts and less aggressive remarks.

Call me when they do reinvest into R&D. Right now, they are no where close to reinvesting as much as other, less profitable players do. They rake in the cash.

They've reinvested in other arenas, namely mobile computing (iDevices). This is part of the reason they're raking in the cash, and selling more Macs than ever. What I believe is going to happen is, they're going to take what they've learned from this reinvestment and apply it to the Mac. That doesn't mean Macs will become iOS devices, that's silly - but I could definitely see an 11" MBA with solid-state components, exceptional battery life and stunning design... Don't think that because they've invested some time and energy into something other than Mac that it isn't applicable to Mac. It certainly is, and I'm certain we'll begin seeing the results soon.

Furthermore, other than IO and BluRay, the current crop of Macs are pretty damned awesome. i7 27" iMacs? Amazing. i7 MacBooks? Same. 12 core MacPro? Need I say it?

In that case, why didn't YOU PM me? Practice, preach much? :) attempting to be above it all when you are stirring the cauldron doesn't add up. As you claim to "call 'em like I sees 'em", why not do so with humility and maturity? You don't have to be abrasive in discourse, in fact you would be taken more seriously if you would respect others as you "call 'em like [ya] sees 'em".

As far as the topic, I'm not the one who brought it up, a few did, I merely backed up their facts, and you proved them by this reply.

One example of many i have read of others taking offense to your comments (and to clarify this is Mals' comment to you as an example of how you come off to others, as Mal points out):

So in short Knight, you don't see your comments as they truly are towards others, and your lack of concern adds more flame to the fire. Integrity would serve you well, and instead of deflecting by blaming others as you tend to do, taking responsibility and perhaps apologizing if your intent truly is not to insult others are the right steps towards adulthood.

What a load of crap. I sold my 13" MBP for an Air and I'm glad I did, it is significantly lighter (I travel a lot for work) and due to the thin profile takes up much less space in my messenger bag. As well as for work it is also my only home computer- I use it all of the time for iTunes, browsing the net and watching movies. Not everybody needs the Pro photo/video editing power which many people on these forums assume is necessary (remember due to the SSD most apps actually launch faster then on the default MBP). For the majority of people the MBA is perfect if they can afford it.

You hit the nail on the head - it is woefully underpowered and port starved. For this you have overpaid. Compared to the MBP 13" you've gotten a little less weigh and volume, but the same footprint and only 0.25" less thickness.

The fact is that there are not many people are willing to that that lousy deal, and so the MBA has sold poorly. Thankfully it looks like Apple has come to it's senses and is releasing an actually small machine.

Dude, I bike into London with it in my pack every day. Trust me. It's super portable. Further, they've sold a ton of them. By definition, that's not a fail.

You people who think that items that don't suit your needs are fails are thicker than old oatmeal.

Wow, you bike into London with it? I regularly bike with 40-60lbs of groceries in my backpack, I guess that makes them super portable too. What you mean is you wouldn't try walking with the MBA, it might hurt your shoulder or back.

I've travelled 4 continents (that's bigger than London, if you're not aware) with my MBP 13" and I hardly noticed it. I travel only with carry-on luggage. But the really good thing is I was never short of ports or computing power. I guess if you don't leave London you're safe with the MBA.

As for your claim that Apple has sold "a ton": sorry, but given your statements so far I can't trust you on that. I'll require evidence. And here it is: Apple has hardly updated the machine at all. If it sells so well don't you think they'd update it more than once or twice in 3 years? I guess your answer will be that it's perfect so they don't need to be.

So enjoy your MBA while I keep my MBP 13" and spend the extra $800 on something useful. LOL.

update

i hope that they would release this as an update to snow leopard. but by the looks of it probably not! :(

They better do a live streaming of this.

I'm sick of reading text and pictures of a live event.

They should make it public as it's happening, not put up a video after the event.

People are too anxious to see what's new and to have a good experience to seeing what's new we need to see it live.

Hopefully Apple will do the live streaming again. But I have my doubts.

Exactly. The reason the Air failed is because it was form over function. Bring on the 11.6" form factor, with specs similar to the 13" MBP but without the stupid optical drive, smaller screen of course but the same sized keyboard.

Why anyone would pay more for a Air over a MBP 13", while losing ports and performance, all for 0.25" less thickness (at it's thickest point, which is obviously the key metric) and less weight, I'll never know.

There are lots of things I'll never understand with the fixation over MacBook Air being pretty much at the top of the list. The MacBook 13.3" does the job - and quite frankly the weight in my bag is hardly anything when compared to all the other things I carry around. I swear this thin fixation isn't motivated by anything more than people with money that is burning a hole in their pocket looking for some justification for spending that money.

If they were to release a smaller one I'd sooner see a 12inch screen, no optical drive, bigger battery, and the dimensions in thickness the same as the MacBook Pro 13.3". If they did that it would serve 95% of people and with the 5% with their thin fetish to go screw themselves. These people with their thin fixations are the reason why we see stupid products like the MacBook Air come out which are loaded with problems - demanding 'thin' whilst ignoring there is a downside to that thin.

Whilst I'm on the topic of thin - someone give Steve Jobs a sandwich he's too skinny.

I don't see why Apple wouldn't do a live stream. They did it in September for the iPod event.

Apple has appeared to prefer to do a delayed download for some events in order to clean it up a bit. They add close ups of screen shots, split screens, graphics, and such. They also can compress and deliver the video more efficiently and at higher quality to more viewers with a delay. That way it looks better when they host it for download usually a few hours after the event.

Live streams are fine when you don't need any of the benefits of a delayed download.

It must be the release of iLife 11 because all hardware that can use iLife 11 as slipped to to 2 day from 24 hrs is this to allow them to put in the disc?
