with the increase in theft from UPS and Fedex drivers with Apple products, I don’t trust sending third parties anything now. Multiple of my iPhone trade ins directly to Apple were stolen by UPS and Apple honored the trade in anyway so that assurance is why I prefer Apple Trade In.
Those shipping services are insured. I’ve made claims on items I sold on eBay before, worked just fine.

I traded a 13 Pro one month ago and they gave me $420 so if they are now offering $370 for the same model they lowered the trade-in value sometime this past month.

Sorry to hear, did you end up applying the trade in credit towards a newer model?
Thanks for the sympathetic reply! Let’s face it, Apple might give $50 more (or less) per model, so I can’t get too upset. And I’m growing tired of the eBay hustle. But yeah, I traded in for the 15 plus (I’m digging the lighter weight and usb-c port!).

Handing down is bad for the environment (business) because it's denying Apple sales it deserves for creating these amazing products. If yous send them to Apple, they will either disassemble and recycle, or refurbish parts to sell to a new customer. Yes you might make a little less cash, but you are guaranteed to avoid sending it to the landfill with Apple's environmentally friendly processes.
Tell that to AirPods.

The sad thing is that people really do think like this

Not in my experience. Trading in my last iPhone got me $400, where selling it was averaging $475 minus shipping and fees. So basically $425. $25 for a lot of hassle.
Sell it locally for cash, or not worth the hassle.

Still not upgrading my 13 PM.. bought launch day, still at 87% battery health after heavy use. I will probably change the battery and run it for another 3-4 years.

I'd like to tell whoever at Apple kept making the unwise decision to stick with Siri year after year for all of these years instead of recognizing its limitations and doing a total rewrite to go play in traffic.
Massive head start with Siri that has been simply squandered. Sad how futuristic it seemed then... nearly no advancements for years until today.

I hope iOS 18 does something BIG. Not sure what they are cooking up with OpenAI but I hope it's both real and spectacular. (bonus points for getting the reference there)

I usually sell my iPhone outright since it's way more than Apple would ever give me. If Apple were to give me $800 for my 15 Pro 128 GB I wouldn't mind but as of right now, I'll stick to selling it myself since I sold my 14 Pro 128 GB last year on eBay for $900.

You will not get $1000 for an iPhone 14 Pro, $520 for zero hassle is a deal. I just got 47% off a new phone.

You may not get $1000 for an iPhone 14 pro, but you certainly do get substantially more than $520. That’s pretty much half the original price and an iphone simply does not depreciate as much as 50% in just one year. Apple’s offer is still outrageously low. Abusive SOBs.

I got an iPhone 15 Pro recently at the Appe Store and I had an old iPhone XR, but in good shape, they gave me $125 trade in value, which I though was great!

I just checked swappa I would say on average I could get about $200 more than what Apple is offering and that’s before fees and shipping so no you’re not making that much more.

Good to see an increase in trade in values. But selling old devices elsewhere will always fetch much higher amount

What do Apple do with all these old devices. Refurbish them in a factory and then dump them all on eBay or something?

I still like my iPhone 12Pro, but make me a good offer Apple and I'll upgrade ... altho' I'm still tempted to see whether the iPhone 16 will be the serious step up.
