Under $1000 with an i3 or greater and I'll buy. Not interested in buying a Core 2 Duo.
Unless they have huge stockpiles are there going to be any Core 2 Duos left to put in it by the end of the year?

Nah, it'll be more like a really flat, light 12" PowerBook with an Intel CPU.
$799 is certainly an attractive price, but Apple is one to hold out for extreme profit margins. That's how they got to be the cash cow they are today.
In addition, Steve Jobs went out of his way to thrash and bash "netbook" computers as cheap junk. Claiming they would never produce one, nor any laptop under $1,000, it's hard to see Apple bringing in anything under the 1K mark.
One thing is for sure, Apple remains controversial and fun to watch.
Any speculation that this thing will run Snow Leopard with the keyboard but iOS when you fold the keyboard all the way behind the screen?
A wild guess, but it could be interesting. An iPad/Mac hybrid.
Considering that Steve Jobs went on and on in 2008 about how sub-notebooks don't have full-sized keyboards and displays, I'd imagine it'd be a bit hypocritical if Apple's 11'' MBA lacked a full-sized keyboard.Sounds nice. Will they be able to keep the full sized keyboard?

If all is true, I shall be getting one of these to replace my iPad. (Will be throwing it out of the window - 4th floor).
I never really thought I would miss flash, and a few of other things that don't want to work on the iPad.
One example of other things is that full transcript of John Sculley... the links to further info on certain things to a pop up Wikipedia window just don't want to work. Even with 'block pop ups' off in settings.
I have been doing without it fine for the last 3 years with iPhone and iPod touches, but on a device the size of an iPad, it just ain't right... and extremely frustrating at times... all comfortable in bed or on the couch, and then to finish what I've started, I've gotta get up and fetch the Macbook!!

Interestingly, the report indicates that Apple appears set to forgo traditional hard drive and even conventional solid state drive technology for storage on the new MacBook Air, instead opting to employ what appears to be proprietary "SSD Card" storage that would be embedded directly in the device rather than conforming to standard drive bay sizes used by other drives. The report notes that offering a flash-only MacBook Air could allow Apple to offer significantly faster boot and wake times, and that the proprietary design for the flash storage could allow Apple to save space inside the slim computer's body and produce the storage at lower cost.
I'm also wary of the word "embedded". Smacks of hard soldered NAND chips imho, which if that's the case, means a whole new logic board to increase capacity.
And when the flash chips wear out, you will have to replace the whole 'book because of such a brillant design. Given how thin those things are, you will be able to just crumple the old one like a sheet of paper before throwing it into the rubbish bin.
Most messed up oneliner I've ever read. Digg it!I'm going to slit my wrists with it

the one right now is a 13.3' screen. If you look at the pics of the keyboard, you can see about one inch on each side of the keyboard for room, so thats 2 inches all together that they can cut down. (13-2=11)
I bet the 11.6' screen was the smallest they could go without sacrificing the keyboard.
