$799 quad-core mini tower with full-size graphics card, please. Thank you.

Me too. Basically the Imac without the monitor.
Perhaps the Quad-Core is too much of a challenge to house in
the current Imac architecture..hence a new mini-tower.
Would be perfect and take away most of the hackintosh competition. It will attract even more new users. I used to have mid-priced desktop...PM7200 :D

But how much do you pay for that dell? The point is not that they have quality issues, of course they do, all companies do, but people or even apple argue that the reason their prices are high is because they have such quality products.

High price = better quality, OS development, customer support, design, thats what most people argue in favor of the price tag.

Now after the initial purchase, you pay an extra $300 for 3yrs of that customer support (pure profit purchase), $120 or so for the updated OS (which is essentially for the dev. of the OSs) so I pay extra in fact for most of those things on top of the price tag, the thing that sticks and what you pay from ultimately up front is the performance parts and build quality. For the price, yes I'd like to see better effort in this department.

Oh you mean how much I paid for my Dell Adamo?

Yup. Every single mac has defects.

Not every single mac has defects. But contrary to Apple fanboys, not every single PC has defects either.

My Toshiba Satellite from 2003 runs just fine. No hardware problems. I just sold it.

My Dell laptop from 2005 runs just fine. I am running Windows 7 on it.

So are you going with the "they said it so I should too" philosophy?

A mass produced product can have defects1?!?!?! STOP THE PRESSES! ALERT THE MEDIA!

No. I am just pointing out the main difference between PC users and Mac users.

PC users will happily admit that PCs will have defects.

Mac users on the other hand will constantly try to justify the premium by claiming Macs have less defects or even outright deny that they have defects.

would love a cheaper imac or just a cheap all in one desktop computer.

however i wouldnt mind dishing out the cash for one 24" imac right now.

well anyways. lets hope for the best on apples cheaper hardware prices. im sure once they bring it down they will rise up the ranks even more fast paced.

Even with all these defected computers, Apple kicks the crap out of your PC companies in satisfied customers. Wonder why?

My god, whats with you and stupid stereotypes?

I take it your a rich white golf/tennis player because your a fan of BMW's? Do you see how stupid that labelling is?

I'd take $100 off a mini! (or just put 4GB of RAM in it and keep it the same price).
;)

Seriously, when Apple releases their "back to school" line, they could easily drop the cost on all their units if they were worried about market share.

The problem is, I don't think they give a rip about market share. It was nice to brag about - huge margins AND gaining market share. But market share in the computer industry is driven from the bottom. Apple is not now, nor will it ever be interested in building bottom-end machines.

So the only way I see this happening is if they think that their market share would drop far enough that it would call in to question their profitability. I think we are a long way from that.

Here is a theory. When you buy a very expensive product, you force yourself to believe it was worth it. I bought some expensive computer speakers that I noticed was clearly defective, and yet forced myself to believe it was the best purchase I ever made.

Another thing with Mac users is that they're like a cult. Customer satisfaction ratings are derived from people filling out questionnaires. Judging by the amount of fanboyism that Apple gets, it's highly unlikely that they would get any true results from those questionnaires.

My god, its like over reaching and falsehoods are a specialty of yours.

Stereotypes don't come out of nothing. Mac users do behave like that and you can see it in various forums and youtube comments on Mac vs PC adverts.

As for the BMW fans being rich white tennis/golf players, that's not a stereotype. That's the truth. Don't go hating on me just cos you can't afford a BMW and have to do with a cheap Honda.

So iPhones and iPods which also have the highest customer satisfaction and are majority owned by Windows users are also bought by Apple fanboys?

First off, i dont give a **** about cars, so theres no hating involved, i couldnt care less.

Second, stereotypes are blown out of proportion, thats why they are a stereotype. Are there douchebag mac users? yes, but the same could be said of PC users.

I think you need to stop reading too much into what people online have to say, because its not a good representation of that group, its only a small faction of it.

How do you know he doesn't have a Bentley?

Just because you use windows doesn't mean you can't be bought by Apple fanboyism.

Think of it this way, you own a cheap Honda Civic, and then you get hold of a relatively expensive Ferrari designed bicycle. Of course you're gonna go around saying how awesome it is, when in fact, it's only slightly better than the others.

How do you know he doesn't have a Bentley?

Because surely no one is that stupid enough. A BMW would run rings around a Bentley.
