Apple have one thing in their corner on this the close ties between Apple and Disney, especially since the deal between Disney and 20th Century Fox. Whilst not everyones cup of tea, if Disney do not renew current deals with Nextflix/Amazon on content and make them Apple/Disney Exclusive there is a bucket load of stuff people will no longer be able to watch.

The price will also be interesting, will have to be inline with the competition if it's more expensive, no amount of exclusive content will save it. Would guess it'll follow in the ranges of Netflix for the different features you get at different price bands.

This will not happen.

Disney starts their own service this year and already explained that it will include their full catalogue plus newly developed shows, plusit will be cheaper than Netflix because the content is Disney stuff only.

No other streaming service will have Disney content, only the digital purchase of Movies will be left. But most people will buy their movie on Amazon, so that they can watch it on TV, as there almost no TV who does not have the Amazon or Netflix App included.

To watch Apple content on your tv you need this very expensive box, what makes Apple a nogo for the most streaming customers.

I see very limited chances for Apples streaming ambitions. Their sucess with apple music is because it works in every phone. Apple movies works on nearly no TV, and not on Android.

Me personally is really bored by the idea of yet another streaming service. I have Amazon Prime and there is always a movie i haven’t seen and every couple of months a new season of a show. I don’t even have Netflix anymore, because inhave enough to watch on Amazon.

Plus that i can buy Movies or shows on Amazon in the most convenient way for cheap, because they often have specials where you get the movie plus bonus content cheaper than the bluray.

Apple streaming? For what?

I feel like we'll see an updated iPad 9.7 along this as well, to use the new subscription service especially the news papers.

I think so too. Updated iPad and AppleTV will be the hardware announcements at this event.

AirPower, wireless AirPods case are due too but aren’t related to the theme of the event so will be announced in a press release after the event.

You honestly think membership will be greater than Netflix? Not even close.

It will be interesting to see if Apple makes any kind of significant subscriber splash in this market. I am guessing membership will be more than Huilu and Netflix.

Netflix has other problems on their hands. Sustainability being one of them.

The streaming wars are only just beginning, especially with new entrants like Apple and Disney who don’t need it to be profitable.

I wouldn’t be so quick as to declare Netflix as the undisputed champ and write off all other competitors just yet.

Please Apple, pick-up the rights to 'The Grinder' featuring Rob Lowe and Fred Savage. That show was so perfectly meta and would fit with Apple perfectly.

I’ll be quick to dismiss Apple. They aren’t a studio house, they clearly are focused on profits currently, and they are not ubiquitous (yet?).

Time will tell where Apple ultimately goes, but if history is any indication, they will say they have millions of customers without divulging what millions of customers really means.

You’re not really keeping up with the news, as your assertions are based on old information.

It’s been announced AirPlay 2 and Apple apps will be on all major TV sets, just like Amazon and Netflix. There will be Apple apps on Android as well.

Apples services will be everywhere Amazon and Netflix will be. You may have plenty to watch on Amazon, but I have shows on Amazon, Hulu, and Netflix I want to watch, as well as HBO and CBSAA. Apple has some interesting shows they are producing I can see wanting to watch as well. And that’s true for many others as well.

Apple TV would be a huge welcome addition, hopefully!

It may be their own productions, but they still need to comply with local laws and regulations. Moreover, it's obviously a larger investment of time and resources to server 100 countries than one.

If Apple rolled out to 100 countries, the first thing people would say on any minor glitch is why didn't Apple focus on one territory first.
Hey, they try to tackle Netflix, which has almost 200 supported countries ; )
