I just called Rogers customer service tonight and inquired about if I was eligable right now for a hardware upgrade. To my surprise, the lady said yes(I had just been at Wireless Wave and they informed me that I was only eligable on August 12th...7 days short of right now). The reason I had called CS in the first place was to inquire if I could upgrade early, as per the info that I got from Wireless Wave. So I asked her what my options were for hardware upgrade on the iPhones. She replied with the following configurations and prices for me:
8gb 3G was $49.
16gb 3G was $99.
8gb 3GS was $299.
16gb 3GS was $399.
32gb 3GS was $499.
8gb 3GS???? I asked her when this became available, and she didn't have an answer to when. The only thing she could tell me, based on the info she had there, was "On this list I have in front of me, all that it says is what's available, and the prices. That's all". I then told her that I already had the 8gb 3G and was interested in upgrading to the 16gb 3GS, as I was about to go on a vacation and wanted the video capability, but I was not interested in upgrading at those prices. She then immediately told me to call back again during daytime hours and ask to talk to Retentions and see what they could do for me on pricing. So that is what I'm going to do tomorrow(today). Hopefully I can get the 16gb 3GS for a reasonable price.
But the interesting thing here is that Rogers does infact have an 8gb 3GS in their system and is available for purchase right now.
Just to let everyone know.
