Problem is Neo is sold out in many places, and the Air was the only option instead of the Pros. But let's see what they do under Ternus.

It sold out because it was a first batch and they had no idea how many they needed to build, plus they are/were running out of binned chips.

Not saying anything is wrong with the Neo, it' a fantastic computer, but selling out of the current run just means it's popular.

Other than cellular connectivity, all these features feel like a step back to me. Hopefully they keep the current MacBook Pro around for a while after this thing comes out.

Bloomberg— and MacRumors — should stop perpetuating the nonsense that Apple is constrained or facing delays caused by global supply issues with RAM shortages. Apple silicon DOES NOT USE RAM CHIPS. Everybody should know this by now, particularly so-called “experts”:

“Apple Macs equipped with Apple silicon utilize a unified memory architecture rather than traditional RAM chips. This design integrates memory directly into the chip, allowing the CPU, GPU, and other components to share a single pool of memory.”

Apple does not use RAM the way old fashioned PC manufacturers do. Keep up, people!

The Mac world needs a portable workstation, not lighter, thinner design. If you want that get an Air.

Otherwise bigger battery and bigger screen are needed.
There is no reason to make the MPB thinner if it comprises anything. It already is running hotter in M5 trim than M1.

Add the Pro chip to the Air, let that throttle under heavy use, and leave the MBP for the pros.

What are you talking, of course they use RAM chips.
Unified memory just refers to how this RAM chips are accessed ...

The MacBook Pro is a workstation. It might not be the exact screen size you want, but it is a legit workhorse in numerous industries.

This sounds....terrible.

Stop putting holes in the Mac displays. I hate the notch on my Mac and dynamic island is not an improvement. Just increase the height of the top bezel by enough. Especially on a 16+ inch laptop.

And the rest of it just sounds like stuff they've purposely been withholding from the Mac for the last decade or so.

An M6 Max chip has been withheld for the last decade?

The stupid thing is, an OLED display shouldn't bump the price of the MacBook Pro, if ASUS can add an OLED to a sub-$1000 laptop. Touch screen? Heh! It's in a $350 iPad. Adding cellular connectivity adds $150 to the iPad...

I really don't need all those new features (aside from wanting the M6 Max chip) in a laptop, but I'm sure there are ton of users who will appreciate it.

If they do a 14" model, bye bye iPad Pro, for me at least anyway, I have been trying to use my MacBook Pro 14" I have now more anyway, see if I can do without an iPad.

I have yet to see laptop or netbook has thin and lightweight has iPad.

Some Intel chips (foe example Lunar Lake) also have integrated RAM memory similar to Apple's design.

Obviously not and even the article admitted that obviously it will have a chip spec bump. That was just to make an even five items for the listicle.

Clearly I meant OLED, cellular, and touch.

I'm happy to get a new more affordable M5 Pro model, since I literally don't want any of those features.

OLED - Harder on the eyes for minimal benefit over mini-LED on a laptop.
Touchscreen - Literally no use for it, and I hate smudges everywhere.
Thinner Design - Not needed, and may compromise the excellent speakers.
M6 Pro - M5 Pro is plenty powerful.
Dynamic Island - Useful on the iPhone, a gimmick on a MacBook where you already have a sufficient menubar system.
Cellular - Could be nice, but I mostly travel with my iPad these days.
