Using the Apple Store app on my iPhone I am able to select my local store and it shows as "In Stock" (this is for a black 32GB AT&T), but just as everyone else is saying...I am unable to actually select the "Pick Up This Item" option. :(

Oh well.

A simple PDT on the retail site would have prevented this...

Prevented what? I checked online at 9:59pm EST and saw the greyed out "buy now" button. I refreshed just after 10pm and it was then blue (and clickable).

This feature would make no sense if it was tied to just one time zone. If it was 10pm till 4am PDT only that would mean that East coast shoppers would have to shop between the hours of 1am-7am. That would not make sense for this type of feature.

My theory is that most apple stores close at 9pm. That gives them an hour to turn in their inventory on iP5's, combine that with what is slated for delivery the following day and there you have it. No need to assume its tied to the Cupertino master blaster.

I tried on my iPad and PC I am in Boston and tried exactly when it turned 10pm eastern time.

My iPad apple app shows me which stores have phones. I've noticed that some stores in my area are going from no inventory to having inventory I've tried 32gb and 64gb att. I keep looking to make sure they aren't going sold out and they still show inventory. Some one in apple made a huge mistake by not enabling the pick up at store button.

I called apple and was on hold for 45 minutes spoke to a nice women who honestly said she has no idea what is going on and that she was sorry. She said no one over there has any idea what happened and there getting a lot of calls for the same reason. She told me to keep trying and this will probably take awhile.

I'm just glad I'm not the only one and ppl aren't buying them around me as well so they don't get sold out.

If this doesn't work I'm going to go first thing in the morning and hopefully they can give me one.

Can't Port Number

I'm getting this error when I am trying to port my existing T Mobile number from 734 area code to ATT. Any idea why this is?

I don't think it was intended to be PDT as others have pointed out.

Also the fact that the app gives Oct 30th availability for any check that's before 10pm local time where the store is located but otherwise shows in stock or not available, argues against it being PDT only.

I called an apple store in natick today near Boston and the manager there told me that starting at 10pm eastern time they were starting the pick up. Maybe he misunderstood as well :)

If I go to the fifth ave apple store now..

Yea so,., If I go to the fifth ave apple store now..
..can I buy the iPhone 5?

According to the apple store app, it says fifth ave store has what I want in stock. They open 24 hours.. When they say "in stock", does that mean those are actually available now? I was so frustrated by online pick up reservation issue and being on hold for an hour to talk to the store rep.... Does anyone have any idea?

"Servers are down for the store" Apple Store Support

I was on hold for an hour for an Apple Support to contact the Apple Store Support and confirmed that the servers were down at the moment and suspected that was the issue of the problem. They said do not order with shipping as you cannot reverse it to in-store pickup. Here's to hoping that they fix the servers ASAP!

So is anyone having luck in CST? I'm in Pacific, but I would be curious to know if Apple got it working now.

Looks like if you change the timezone on your iOS device the stock counts change from "October 30" to unavailable or in stock. For those who are still before before 10pm.

That's decent question, can we just use this as supply indicator and then get in line at the store that has what we want?

If you change your time zone to HAST do the stores in NY show October 30th availability?
