I couldn't mention that since I never made it to that stage. 😀 As I mentioned I'm aiming for the "contract-free" version, which is apparently not reservable... -.-
 
I too was able to press the buy button, but the option to pick up in store is greyed out. Almost bought it and had it shipped without realizing it! 😱
 
The pick-up option isn't working for me either. I already have my AT&T order placed, so I don't want to mess that up. At this point, since I probabaly won't be up at 1am, I'll just have to wait.
 
I tried it as well as going through the normal buy process and the URL's are identical. If you look at the screenshot from the macforums post, the blue button actually says "Reserve". But I'm not sure where that screen shot came from.
 
Tried placing my order at 10:00:10 EST and the pick-up option is not selectable. I was trying g for a 64GB model, so I started over to try for a 32. On the last page, still only the buy online option, pick-up not selectable.

yes,and this method was how i bought my iPad 2 the first week of launch. it was so popular the only way to get one from an apple store at the time was to get lucky and be able to pre-order one after 10 pm that night before. this was really just in the first 7-14 days of release
 
Not working for me either. I'm trying the "Chat" feature, but it's just waiting and waiting. I would be nice of Apple to tell us if the times are Eastern or Pacific.
 
Same here got all the way to cart but pickup option greed out. From what I've heard and read its 10pm eastern time. Something is screwed up, it should be working.
 
I called a local store earlier today and was told to check the website at 10:00PM local time to reserve one for the next day, so I would assume it's local time, but maybe I've been lied to 😱
