The thing that intrigues me about the first of the refreshed Macs being released in 2026 is pricing, and especially BTO pricing on RAM and (to a lesser extent) SSD upgrades.

I'm sorry, but I seriously doubt Apple will update the MacBook Pro twice in the same year. If this is true, I can see people skip the M5 MacBook Pro upgrade, and wait for the M6 one that'll be released only a few months later.
They've done it before. The M2 came out in January, the M3 came out in October of the same year.

People needing to upgrade now (like Intel mac users) will appreciate the spec-bump now, rather than getting the current models in the hope of a bigger spec-bump/redesign later in the year.

A lot of people also don't want to get a first-gen redesign of an Apple product, because they usually have design problems that get fixed in later generations (eg. butterfly keyboards). Those people would also benefit from an M5 model this year instead of waiting for an M6.

Everything here is either iterative or something that's already been done by others, e.g. foldable phone, doorbell, home hub, glasses, etc. Pretty tough to get excited....

How about a 27-inch iMac with M5 Pro chip? Even the Mini gets the Pro chip.

The M5 Ultra Mac Studio will make a fine addition to my collection.

I am confused on what to do with monitors. I have the original ASD and a Samsung G80SD (32", 4k, 240Hz). I use them both on my current Mac (HDMI for the G80SD and thunderbolt for the ASD).

I also have a PC that uses the G80SD via display port.

I'm really dying to go back to one monitor, preferable the new ASD - it would be awesome if I could use it with both the PC & Mac...

I find the value of additional screens in fixed locations and speakers to be limited. I currently use three screens a watch, an iPhone, an iPad, and a Mac and access a fourth screen when undertaking more demanding tasks. All of these devices can summon Siri with a simple button press. If a task requires a screen, there are numerous options available. Even in bed or during the night, the watch can quietly perform most tasks. None of these devices require me to move to a specific location to complete a task. The speakers are either in my ears or in my listening areas that already have excellent speakers. This product appears to be an expensive solution to a problem that does not exist, aside from the hub. If the hub enables Siri functionality, would be satisfied with the purchase. Removing the speaker and screen would be a significant improvement.

There is no ducking way the MacBook is getting M5 Pro/Max and then getting M6 Pro/Max 6-8 months later.

Looking at recent years, I am afraid, more diversity in hardware offerings will bring more adversity for software quality …

I do not see why all this Home functionality could not be integrated into a 13” iPad, saving electronic waste. Environmental sustainability subjugated to tech business corporate greed. It is great for marketing though.

I'm looking forward to the M6 MBP redesign with touch screen - hopefully a Mac that can game AAA titles. The iPhone fold has potential if it would allow me to ditch my iPad and is in fact creaseless. I'd like a more affordable Vision Pro as I rarely use my Valve Index because of how big and bulky it is.

For Apple Watch, I would love to see a third party watch face store as the watch faces are pretty dang stale (aside from Snoopy). Also itt would be great if AW would gain a basic camera so I could leave my phone at home while jogging.

Sadly, there are very few AAA games for Mac. For decades, Apple has never been gamer friendly for developers, except for their iOS platform (incentivized by a 30 percentage cut of the sales).

There are certainly a lot more games than there once was. At least now I have a nice selection of games I can play on my Mac if I want to finally ditch my PC. There was a time long ago I only played World of Warcraft. Thanks to Blizzard who supported Macs.
